Simple solution. End state funding for all sectarian schools.

Universal free education that promises to make this country great.
Those schools involved are setting an education tax that has no representation other than market demand. If this is the case then the LEA if it owns the assets should should consider selling up or take direct action to stop it.
The schools involved should consider giving back the money, or return it to the LEA which can more responsibly decide its best use for pupils.
There are children in this land who will not benefit from good ecucation because it is effectively put out of reach by mercantile practices of the schools. Perhaps it would be better to put a direct subsidy on council taxes just like that is done for policing.
It is also a good time to review school land leased or sold to private enterprise to fund school sporting facilities. School land povides open space and seperation from outside world distractions conducive for learing and well being of children.

I'm not sure I understand fergus's post. Is he saying it is wrong to name and shame schools that have not only broken the law but have also unfairly prevented children whose parents have less income from attending them? As a lower earner parent I would like to see all schools checked out, not just a couple of boroughs.
My children's education shouldn't be decided by a greedy school here or a greedy school there.

No too much different to having to be in the Masons to get a Union job or in the Labour select.
Dave Madley, Alicante, Spain
Many of us educated at Catholic schools years ago will know there is much truth in this and it is not a new practice.
Whether you are rich or poor the so-called voluntary contribution is expected and more recentlt not just per family, but per student which does feel unjust!
Nicola, Hants,
Oh dear, another reason for not voting Labour-Bully boy witch hunt tactics. Pathetic.
