Average offers of A-level grades: We do not have an average A-level score at admissions stage - the entry requirements vary from programme to programme. The average tariff score on entry for the current academic year was 370. This represents the students who registered, not those who applied.
Any restrictions on the A-level subjects that are acceptable (eg, some universities operate policies stating that candidates offering more than one subject out of a given list will not be ordinarily be offered a place.)? The University of Liverpool is committed to ensuring that applicants are treated wholly on the basis of their achievements and potential to complete successfully their chosen programme of study. We strive to maintain an element of flexibility in the A-level combinations we accept, and we do not have a list of subjects that we consider less ideal than others. Where there are particular subject requirements or exclusions, we ensure that these are detailed in our prospectus, in the departmental admissions policies on our website and in the Entry Profiles on the UCAS website, so that applicants and their advisers may make an informed choice about their A-level subject combination.
Details of the process by which a candidate’s background is taken into account in deciding whether to offer them a place (for example, credit being given to those who would be the first in their family to attend university; credit being given to those from schools which do not achieve good A-level grades): As an institution we support the principles of fair and transparent admissions and are committed to widening participation. We will take individual circumstances into account when they are raised, either via the personal statement on the UCAS form or via the reference and evidence of their impact is provided (i.e. mitigating circumstances), as described in our departmental admissions policies. However, we do not select on the basis of membership of a particular group as this does not provide sufficient evidence of an individual’s potential and preparation, and is thus not in line with the Schwartz principle of treating each applicant as an individual.
