Squid’s hunting tactics filmed

LONDON Footage of huge squid hunting prey reveals that they emit a blinding flash of light before they strike. Taningia danae, never before seen in its natural environment, uses bioluminescence to illuminate and confuse its prey. Filmed in the North Pacific, the squid, which can reach 7½ feet (2.3 metres), was an “aggressive and tenacious predator”, reported researchers in Proceedings of the Royal Society. Watch video

Shame the main crux of the story (i.e, bioluminescence) is ruined by the light source from the camera :(
