MANCHESTER Thousands of dinosaur foorprints in the Spanish Pyrenees that were being eroded by the elements have been saved for study by laser scanning.
Three-dimensional images of 3,000 tracks, fossilised in a quarry at Fumanya, in Catalonia, have been recorded using technology more usually employed by the oil exploration industry. Analysis of the prints has confimed that one set of tracks was made by a sauropod, the biggest creatures to walk the Earth. Another set was almost certainly made by a therapod, a two-legged predator such as Tyrannosaurus rex, said Phil Manning, from the University of Manchester.
Using a laser scanning system called Riegl, right, to record dinosaur tracks for the first time, the researchers were able to record every print digitally in three dimensions and in colour.
Dr Manning said: “We can produce a representation of everything on the rocky outcrops, from a single footfall to a whole set of footprints.”

I can't see anything resembling a footprint in that dodgy picture I'm afraid. Unless the reference is to those human-looking footprints in the Low Carbon Diet Plan article on the right?
nicko, sydney,
I find things like this amazing and incredibly interesting. I am fascinated about things from millions of years ago as there are what made the world it is today. I agree with Emily below, I really hope they keep us posted about it because I'd love to find out what the dinosaurs were doing and where they think they were heading

Wow. I think this is amazing that they found the dinosaur prints. I'm excited to find out what kind of research the researchers will do on the prints and the area where they found the prints. I can't wait to hear about the researchers' findings and what they think the dinosaurs were doing and why they might have been there. I hope they keep us posted!!!
