Man survives 300ft hotel fall

MINNEAPOLIS A man fell through a hotel window and plunged 16 floors, but survived after landing on an overhanging roof.

Joshua S. Hanson, 29, of Blair, Wisconsin, suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries. Emergency crews said that he was still conscious and talking as they eased him off the roof and took him to hospital. “He’s a lucky guy,” said a police officer, Dale Barsness, adding that he must have “an angel on his shoulder or something”.

Police said that Mr Hanson had returned to the Hyatt Regency hotel at 1.30am after a night out and had run down a short hallway towards the window. He apparently lost his balance and went through the glass, falling 300ft (90m) before landing on the roof one floor above the street.

“This has never happened before,” Tom Mason, the general manager of the hotel, said. He added that the window was double-glazed and that a safety inspection would take place. (AP)
