1. Gateway of India jetty
Approx 9pm: Terrorists arrive at Gateway of India jetty, one of Bombay's most identifiable landmarks. They then cross the road to begin the night of mayhem.
2. Colaba
9:20pm: Two men on a motorcycle throw a grenade towards a popular backpackers' club in Colaba. They then run in to nearby Niaman House, a residential and business complex, and take a Jewish family hostage
3. Leopold Café
9:20pm: Five gunmen enter the Leopold café, in the Colaba district, and open fire
4.Hotel Taj Mahal Palace
Around 9:45pm: It is believed the same gunmen that entered Leopold’s enter Taj Mahal lobby and fire indiscriminately. People in the ballroom speak of a hail of bullets smashing through one of the windows.
Later, a boat laden with explosives is found near the Taj Hotel.
By 3am: 300 people are trapped in the Taj Mahal hotel's business centre, as soldier surround the building.
After 5am: the upper floors of the Taj appear to have been set ablaze. Two terrorists are believed killed in the Taj during the night.
5. International airport
10pm: Bomb blows up in a taxi close to the International airport. Taxi driver killed
6. Oberoi Hotel
9:45pm: A group of militants enter the Oberoi lobby and begin shooting. The men herd guests upstairs and ask people their nationality. They are particularly interested in American and British people. Up to 100 guests believed to be taken hostage.
3am: Soldiers surround the building
8am: A group of trapped guests are rushed out of the Oberoi. Terrorists fire on the bus as they flee.
7. Cama Albless hospital
10:15pm: Two militants on a scooter pull up to the entrance to Cama Hospital, in the south of the city, and begin firing randomly inside and outside the hospital. Two police officers are among the dead.
8. Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus
10:30pm: Four men enter Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus. Two begin to fire in the station, two more are seen moving towards the Metro cinema complex. At least 10 people killed in the station.
9. St George Hospital
5am: Eyewitness claims to have seen up to 40 dead bodies at the hospital
