BANGKOK Hundreds of Buddhist monks, led by nine elephants, marched on parliament to demand that Buddhism be enshrined as the national religion in Thailand’s postcoup constitution. Buddhist activists fear their religion is being undermined, citing violent incidents in the south, where Muslim insurgents have killed monks and bombed temples, and forced Buddhists to abandon their homes. More than 90 per cent of Thailand’s 64 million population are Buddhists. (AP)

big bad violent buddists profeetiring from the global opression of the radical muslims. Hey times, you have some of those poor misunderstood victims apparently censoring comments section.
Iskander, Moscow,
While I see the merits on the basis of securing lives and households from Muslim terrorists operating out of Malaysia and Indonesia wouldnt Buddists fare better by
formulating a common democratic defensive front between themselves and local Christians and Muslims further to the south along that border. In centuries past when nations or kingdoms transform themselves into a one religion state other religions, like Judiasm in Germany's case and Christianity in Thailand's case, become the targets of persecution and compression
Internal security measures are not going to improve by creating a circumstance where less numerous people outside of the state's religion are not included in the real issue; protecting rights of all people within the state to exist free from expulsion or harrassment.
By creating security barriers with all parties present would unite a people against oppression and wont isolate any one socio-religious group. Anything else would backfire.
