Taleban rebels extended by 24 hours last night a deadline for the execution of 23 South Korean Christians held hostage in southern Afghanistan.
The insurgents had originally said that if 23 Taleban prisoners were not freed by 7pm yesterday all the members of the group, which includes 18 women, would be killed.
The extension was agreed after negotiations between the Taleban and South Korean and Afghan authorities. It also emerged that Afghan and US troops had surrounded a Taleban hideout in the province of Ghazni, where the Koreans were captured. General Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Afghan Defence Ministry, said: “As soon as we receive the order, we will start the operation.” Taleban insurgents said that if military action was taken they would kill the hostages.
The Christians, all in their 20s or 30s, were kidnapped on Thursday while driving from Kabul to the city of Kandahar, where it is claimed they planned to carry out aid work.

I pray these people will be saved, they have gone over there with the intention of aid to the many people. As someone has said - this kind of behaviour just highlights what murderous hte-filled pig-dogs this taleban really is. God bless the South Koreans and the truth.
Lee, Manchester,
God is love....They only went to Afghanistan to help people! I live in America where there are people from all over the world! As a Christian I cherish my friends from China, Iran,Japan,Mexico and Packistan. I They have different religions....God gave us free choice! I would never hurt them!!!!! So when you kill or harm others because they have free will! You are expressing hate not the love of God!

Prophet Muhammad said, "He who kills a non-Muslim who keeps a peace treaty with the Muslims will not smell the scent of Heaven, though its scent can be smelled from as far away as a march of 40 years". T
The South Koreans come to offer aid and the 'Taleban' abduct and threated then, how disgusting. Proof that the Taleban are nothing more than criminals with no real understanding of Islam.
The second Muslim ruler after Muhammad died, Umar, advised one of his governors saying âPrevent Muslims from wronging or causing harm to them (non-Muslims) or taking their property illegally.â What does it take for the 'talib' (student) to actually learn something of Islam!
