BEIJING China launched its first lunar probe yesterday as part of an ambitious ten-year plan to send a rover to the Moon.
State television showed pictures of the Chang’e 1 orbiter taking off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan, a province in southwest China, shortly after 6pm (10am).
Several thousand people living within 2.5km (1.5 miles) of the launch centre were evacuated before blast-off, whilemore than 2,000 tourists paid 800 yuan (£52) each to watch the launch. China says that the rocket should begin orbiting the Moon on November 5. (AP)

It'll be interesting to see if they come across any signs of another race having been to the moon already, i.e. the US. I woulf bet that they don't see any signs of landing, flags, moon buggies etc etc. They're still in the Nevada desert.

There should be more news about China's moon probe mission.
Be open minded and face the competition. It is good for all the people on earth. When the earth is too hot to live, we have to find some other planet.
There will a Chinese restaurant on the moon before McDonald,
