The Pakistani Government today published a picture of what it said was the severed head of the suicide bomber who killed Benazir Bhutto and offered a reward of almost £83,000 to anyone able to identify him.
Amid growing criticism of the police investigation into the opposition leader's killing, two pictures featuring men believed to be involved in the Rawalpindi shooting and suicide bombing were published today in Jang, the country's biggest-selling Urdu-language daily.
As well as an image of the severed head of a clean-shaven man who police suspect to be the bomber, another image - taken in the minutes before the blast - shows a young man wearing sunglasses and a dark waistcoat staring at the camera with a man wrapped in a white shawl standing directly behind him.
Alongside the pictures, the Government published a statement saying: "The people’s co-operation is being sought in this tragic incident and a picture of the criminals is being released."
It offered a reward of 10 million rupees (£82,645) for any information about the men, adding: "The name and address of the informant will be kept secret."
Later, in what appeared a further attempt to silence opposition anger over the conduct of the investigation, President Musharraf reversed the Pakistani Government's previous position and announced that he had requested foreign police help, with Scotland Yard sending out a team of officers by the end of the week.
The moves came amid huge tension between President Musharraf and his political opponents over the investigation into Ms Bhutto's killing.
The Pakistan People's Party (PPP), now headed by her widower, disputes Government claims that she died after cracking her head on the her car sunroof handle, pointing to a number of video and photographic images showing that she was shot as she waved to crowds before a suicide bomber blew himself up in the seconds afterwards.
Offers of assistance in the investigation have so far come from the United States, Britain and France.

In response to Rickey Shoaib , without Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan is Orphan. As it is blamed that PPP had been promoting corruption,it would be unfair if this Musharraf's government and its allied supporting terrorist and killer parties are left ignored. What Musharaf has done is that he brought the terrorist parties and handed over the government to them. Its the Musharaf regime that planned to Kill Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto by creating a situation through National Reconciliation Ordinance which gave a handful of PPP people freedom along with thousands of MQM terrorists which resulted in the assassination of BB.

in response to sarfaraz abbasi, the entire Bhutto family is known to be corrupt.Everyone knows how corrupt both of Benazir's terms as prime minister were. Her husband Zaradri is the biggest terrorist and criminal ever known to pakistan. For the first time in the history of pakistan you can criticize the President and get away with it.I have never seen this much freedom and development in that country.Your economy is booming, foreign companies are investing money in Pakistan, why not just send bhutto to hell and prevent them form stealing money from Pakistan. Its the money that brought them back to Pakistan after 8 years, their greed for corruption.I suspect Zardari murdered Benazir to take control just like he killed Murtaza Bhutto in 96, I hope that people of pakistan wake up from ignorance and learn from their mistakes and stop electing feudal leaders.

Corrupt government of Q league is all invloved in killing Benazir Bhutto Shaheed (Sindhi word for Martyred). We sindhis are sure they thought being away from Pakistan for eight years, no one would give her vote, now that she had come to Pakistan with thousands thousands of supporters workers to greet her at airport, they got carried away with shock. These people always capture a beheaded skull and all the time through investigate upon the traces, ridiculous for any person with good sense. Crime-scenes are kept away from public for many days even months, but the crime-scene was hosed within hours of assassination, an assassination that too of a greatest leader like Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, nobody can deny the fact, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed was an intelligent leader, who e-mailed to her friend Mark Siegel in U.S.A naming Musharraf to be held responsible for any harm happened to her. I respect her she was like my sister, and her father Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as my father.

What Pakistan needs is COMPLETE Independence from the policies of countries like USA.
Pakistan is facing all these problems because it has been used for years and years by US to have its control over the region, for which it uses Afghan liberation from Russia or War against Terrorism names.
As "David's" comment suggests Pakistan is being considered as one of the States of US and they consider it as their own right to implement all kinds of policies they want in order to achieve their own motives.
ONLY if US wold let us live the way we want to, I believe Pakistani political scenario can get better very quickly. All the politicians, army rulers and Judiciary understand that we need a good system.
It is just the International pressures (which includes bribing / forcing politicians Generals and Judges) that has ruined us.

David from Charlotte, USA is right on the politics, but how do you control the terrorists who are running riot along the Afghan frontier without a front line role for the armed forces?
A L Sen, Mijas, Spain
she is a leader of Pakistan. We loved her alot. sad demise of her death. we pray to God that her killer group should be captured immediately and sentenced to death at the spot. God Bless her.

President Musharraf was the last great hope of the USA. A terrible choice on the part of the current USA Regime it now seems. Fortunately the USA has an election in which the current President is not participating and will be put out to pasture. For that I am very happy. For Pakistan I am very sad for it seems they are to have a Perpetual President in Musharraf.
What Pakistan needs is a National Coalition Government of all parties (with the Military sent back to the barracks). If that is not a success perhaps it is time for the Balkanization of Pakistan into smaller more workable states.

Where does Miliband - so quick to endorse the 'banged her head' nonsense now stand on this revised version of events?
