Chilling telephone conversations between the Mumbai gunmen and their handlers emerged yesterday from an Indian dossier of evidence linking the attacks to Pakistan.
During the atrocities a gunman in the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai told his commander, believed to have been in Pakistan: "We have three foreigners, including women." The response was plain and brutal: "Kill them."
Gunshots than rang out, followed by cheers, according to a leaked transcript of the intercepted call.
The details emerged as the Pakistani Government admitted for the first time that Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the sole gunman to be captured alive during the attacks, which left more than 170 people dead, had links to the country. "He has links to Pakistan but the investigation is ongoing," Sherry Rehman, the Information Minister, said.
The Indian dossier also describes how the Pakistan-based handlers ordered another team of gunmen who had seized Nariman House, an ultra-orthodox Jewish outreach centre, to execute their hostages.
"If you are threatened immediately kill them," one handler said. "If the hostages are killed, it will spoil relations between India and Israel."
The gunman replied: "So be it, God willing." Six Jewish foreigners, including a rabbi and his wife, were shot dead inside the building.
Those giving the orders are alleged to be senior members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the Pakistan-based terrorist faction that Indian officials believe still has the support of Pakistan's powerful spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence. They include Zarar Shah, the LeT's communications chief, who has been arrested in Pakistan and is believed to have admitted his role to Pakistani investigators. "He played a major part," Rakesh Maria, the officer in charge of the police investigation in Mumbai, said.
The calls were part of a dossier handed to Pakistan's high commission in Delhi on Monday. "The commanders in Pakistan are following events on television and are issuing real-time instructions; telling the gunmen to target certain nationalities and religions; to maximise casualties; not to touch Muslims. This is hands-on direction," a senior Indian government official told The Times.
The dossier also included information from Kasab's interrogation.

India has ignored UN Resolutions demanding a plebisite in Kashmir . Giving effect to this will end any terror activity in India from Kashmiri groups where ever based. More than 4 0,000 Kashmiris have died at the hands of Indian Security forces. To solve a problem you have to address the root problem

Any soft peddling by the international community will only encourage Pakistan to continue her present approach of using terrorism as an instrument of foreign policy. The international community should isolate Pakistan immediately till it really dismantles terror network.

No amount of proof will be accepted by pakistani government as their involvement in world-wide terrorism. ISI is one of the terrorist organisation. America and other western countries have kept their eyes closed since decades and I don't see any change in their foreign policy in near future.

No amount of tv news footage, intercepted telephone calls, confesions or any other evidence will be accepted as proof by the pakistanis who are now claiming that this attack was some conspiracy between USA, Israel and India. Its time to treat pakistan like the worlds centre of terrorism that it is.

What do u call a proof ? A signed document with the stamp of President of Pakistan !!!

'Pakistan is involved in much of the terrorist activity'. Thats just a baseless hollow remark. Theres terrorism all over the world (India, Sri Lanka, Middle East..) It just conveniently gets blamed because its a muslim country. Blame muslims and their reasons, but why an entire country?

I sympathise with you and the whole of pakistan. That dossier "contains" proof, as much as can be amassed from india. I understand, its terribly embarrassing, but with the whole world watching the king naked, its hardly crdible for the king and subjects to say he is clothed.

It is high time Pakistan is deemed a terrorist state and/or a failed state by the world. Pakistan's late and reluctant admission that at least one of the terrorists is Pakistani proves that its role as an ally in the war against terror has been an eyewash from day one.
Is Obama listening?
Aarthi, New Delhi, India
Pakistan asked for proof, not a dossier. The dossier contains images, alleged telephone intercepts and newspaper clippings. Hardly credible. Even after a month of so called investigation, the Indians have no proof.
Shaffiq Mahmood, Halifax, UK
When will the world of politics wake up. Everybody else knows that Pakistan is involved in much of the terrorist activity around the world, yet we see them as 'allies'?
They have continually sabotaged American search and capture opertations in the region for years. (i.e. tipping off terrorists).
