Hundreds of reports from psychics and clairvoyants claiming to know the location of Madeleine McCann are being checked by Portuguese police following her disappearance four weeks ago today.
Detectives believe the abductor may try to alert them to the whereabouts of the four-year-old girl by claiming to have seen her in a dream or vision.
The Policia Judiciara (PJ) has two dossiers, 8cm thick, of apparent visions and sightings of Madeleine after she was stolen from the bed of an Algarve holiday apartment 28 days ago. The sightings have placed Madeleine at various locations across the world. Several addresses have been raided in the UK in the hunt for Madeleine.
Chief inspector Olegario Sousa said each clairvoyant claim was being taken seriously as one could contain a message from Madeleine's abductor.
“That is one of the reasons that we cannot discard anything," he said. “We can’t put these messages in the bin. We must check them all in case it might be from the kidnapper.
"But the problem is the same, if there are indications which are enough to follow then we will go. If there isn't, we cannot do anything.”
The decision to treat such reports seriously will fuel criticism of the police investigation which has failed to find any trace of Madeleine to collect enough evidence to arrest any potential suspects. The method will draw comparisons with the Hollywood movie “The Gift” which featured Cate Blanchett as a psychic who uses her powers to track down a missing woman.
Mr Sousa said some the descriptions received by police in Portugal and Britain were as vague as dreams about a man in a house with trees and a road.
“Some of the information is about precise location or co-ordinates and that allows us to go to the place and we will check it,” he said. “Just a few days ago we got one address near Lagos [about five miles from Praia da Luz] but it didn't amount to anything.”
Mr Sousa said he did not believe they had heard from Madeleine's abductor: “If it was a message from the kidnapper, it will offer enough clues to help us to go to the right place.”
He said it was not unusual to investigate the claims of clairvoyants but added it was only one line of investigation.
“In this case the amount of information we have received is huge," he said. “Any information that comes to us, if there is enough to follow, we will check.”
It is not known if a “vision” was the source of the information which led to Portuguese detectives asking British police to raid a London home where they believed Madeleine might have been kept.
Debbie Seepersad from South Norwood was collecting her daughter Maressa, 12, from school when the police officers arrived on Wednesday last week.
“They said that because no-one answered the door when they knocked, they called through to their superiors and were told to gain entrance to the house,” said Ms Seepersad.
“I can understand why they did it. If it were my daughter I'd want them to knock on everyone's door. What irritates me is that they're not revealing their sources. Anyone could call up the police and give them anyone's address.”
A spokeswoman for Leicester Police, which is coordinating the investigation in Britain, said that a number of properties have been searched at the request of the Portuguese authorities but added: "We can't comment a great deal on the investigation and the particular leads because it's not our investigation. It's being led by the Portuguese police."
Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry, will tonight travel to Madrid ahead of meetings with politicians and charities involved with child welfare planned for tomorrow to raise the profile of the search for their daughter.

Has anyone ever heard about baby Azaria Chamberlain, who was taken by a dingo whilst the family was on a camping holiday in the outback?
The media and public went wild with all sorts of speculation, innuendo, gossip and accusations against the family, as in Madeleine's case.
DNA evidence of the baby's blood was found in their car and sleeping bag, which helped convict the parents. [It was later found to belong to a hitchhiker with a blood nose]. People accused the parents, especially the mother, of looking and sounding harsh, defensive, and therefore guilty.
Azaria's mother Lindy, was convicted and jailed for her murder.
Eventually, after the whole family's life was ruined, they were exonerated and given a compensation payout that barely covered their legal fees.
Although brave, strong and open, Lindy, nor the rest of the family, have ever recovered from that terrible injustice.
Please don't do this to the McCann family. WE DON'T know.

Every day i read the papers listen to the radio and watch tele praying that soon they will find little Maddie. Please return her to her family. Some one out there must know the where abouts of Maddie, she is just a little girl who needs her family, please please just drop her off in a safe place and contact someone. The whole world wants Maddie returned back to her family, so please return her so they can all go home.
Teresa, King's Lynn, England
Maybe it would enhance the search posters to have some possible "appearance altered" photos to alert the public to disguises an abductor might apply to a child, and a caution to be on the lookout for the girl wearing contact lenses or glasses to disguise that main identifier on the iris of her eye? Please pass this suggestion on. Christians might agree with each other to combine their prayer power for her safe return.
AC, Skagit, USA
I think the person who took madeleine should return her, do they not know how her parents must be feeling, and how they would feel if the shoe was on the other foot. surely if you want a child, there are other ways of having them,i cannot understand why someone would put anyone through this.i cannot comprehend what is going through there heads. just leave her some where safe and phone the authorities. Please let her go home, madeleine needs her familly as much as they need her, you have had her far two long now its time to return her,she has missed so much of her only family life now and cannot get that back ,so do not let her miss anymore send her home have a heart.
B.Stephens, northamptonshire, uk
The McCanns should contact a well known Psychic who has a proven reputation. There are famous Psychics in England who could be contacted. It is only then that they will get the true answer as to where Madeleine is.
People with this gift use it Daily in their lives and are experts. Of course the child could be moving all the time around the country or world and the amateur psychics could be correct.
But they must contact an established and proven Psychic with a Really good record and preferably one who is famous.
This is not magic or rubbish. Psychics can see negative events and could pinpoint her position.
Its a much faster route to finding Madeleine than ordinary methods.
Any Famous Psychics out there willing to help please contact them.

ther is only one other way .everyone should let thier nieghbour search thier home that way i would be done quicker those who refuse should be checked out by police.when something like this happen im sure nearly everyone wouldnt mind.im sure this child is still alive.there must be someone out there who can help find her.the clairvoyants there must be some good ones. ive seen them on tv solving murders. if its money just ask the public.im sure we could pay for it..try it. we need to find just like her parents.i dont want this to dissapear and nothing gets done i dont even care if no one gets caught now i would just like her to go home.the person who took her could just leave her somewhere safe and still get away withit. its not too late just do it please!

Police pressured to solve a case will fit up innocent people. Hundreds of thousands of wrongfully convicted are in jail; every day hundreds more. Woebetide if you're the wrong class/colour/creed.
Nevah Mynde, melbourne, Australia
The Police certainly have a lot to wade through. I commend them for being thourough.
I don't know how I would feel coming home to finding investigators IN MY HOUSE, because of someone's hunch. We need to be careful and not turn it into The Salem Witch Hunt. But, for those who have nothing to hide, and if the authorites show restraint and tact, searching all leads is fine. I just want the child home safe!
I implore the authorities and/or family to contact psychic Carla Baron. She has a website, carlabaron.net. There is contact information on her website.
Debra, Atlanta, GA
From the minute they are born most of us would rip the world apart with our teeth to keep them from harm.
No good comes of hindsight now.The parents of Madeleine are doing the right thing to direct their energy into positive action. But when I wake up in the wee small hours my stomach contracts to think of where she is and how she is- and I am not her mother. Her real parents must be silently beside themselves with despair. I think that the tidal wave of love and prayer has kept them going-I really do.I have prayed so many times I have lost count-God must be sick of me.
I will continue praying even if it only achieves one outcome-but I think the real problem lies in these child porn websites because I would bet money that the paedophile problem has only got worse since the dawn of these wretched things.Surely technology being what it is nowadays could shut all these sites down, or pinpoint who is using them and publish their names on a sex offenders list for all to see.
angela yates, Alicante, Valencia
Whatever it takes to return Madeleine safely to her parents. The Portuguese Police are doing a very good job. I feel it won't be long now before we will hear breaking news in this case.
Sandra, Dallas, USA
To the family, my husband and I have children the same age as Madeleine and your twins. When we heard about this nightmare we both had knots in our throats. We are praying several times a day for Madeleine to be returned safe. Do not lose faith. The world will not stop looking for Madeleine. She has touched everyones heart. We are using the internet to spread the word. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Irene, Las Vegas, Nevada /USA
I can not begin to imagine what the parents are going through as I am not a parent myself. I am a 23 year old girl who has also being affected by little Maddy's disappearance. I do wish for her safe return. I can not make a comment on the policing in Portugual, or to Say British policing would have been better. Its very quick to pass blame in these circumstances. I am also sure that her parents will never forgive themselves for leaving her that night, and that is something that they are going to blame themselves for, the rest of their lives. What I do hope for is an answer whether good or bad, I pray to God good so there will be peace of mind. My thoughts are with the family, and with other familes who have missing children. Let them all be returned home safe.
Beverley Glenn , Manchester ,
I think the parents of the girl have managed to keep the struggling search alive. I wish all kith and kin of those abducted would do the same. But I think the investigation is on a wild goose chase. There aren't enough theories - u can not comb the whole world for her.
I believe there has to be involvement of someone working inside the resort. No outsider can stalk the family (know which family to stalk!), know all their habits and carry out such a well timed abduction alone. Someone at the resort has been part of this plan - I wish all of them are interrogated and if required, under narco analysis. This will be a very basic check. I hope the investigation takes this on.
Anuradha, Bangalore, India
This awful ordeal has affected us all to a considerable degree and everyone feels so frustrated at the lack of meaningful leads. I wonder if Maddie was taken on a boat out to sea? She would be virtually untraceable if this were to happen although it doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened to her. It could explain a lot of things that seem inexplainable? I do hope police have intensively explored this possibility.
Hazel, Bedfordshire,
I am full of admiration for the McCanns., they are doing what they have to do to get their child back and it must be incredibly difficult for them. I am sickened by some of the messages left here - the mean spirit and shallowness shown by some defeats my understanding. A child is missing - and the McCann's and supporters are not going to let anyone forget it - good for them. What else should they do - keep quite because some heartless worthless people don't want to know!
Susan Clarke, Whaddon, Hertfordshire
many children are abducted in the uk and all over the world everymonth, our prayers should not just be for madeleine mccann but for all the abducted children. many abducted children get no media coverage at all lets not forget about them please. every child is precious they are all our future not one is of more importance than the other. i hope with all my heart that madeleine mccann is found but i also have hope for other abducted children too please remember to pray for all these tormented souls. prayers are recognized with tears by our lord.

It worries me that no mention is made of the yacht that was in the Lagos marina for almost 2 years and suddenly, at the time of Maddie's dissappearance, left the marina. A man was seen carrying a child to the marina several hours after her dissappearance. Why don't they reveal the yacht's name so that other yacht owners and people around the world can be on the look out for it. If it is found, let's hope that it will be searched by professionals! to see if there is any DNA samples of Maddie or her abductor. I wonder if the police have checked the marinas in Morocco for this yacht? I have read that there have been several possible sightings of Maddie there. If only the british police could have send in their sniffer dogs at the start of this investigation, Maddie would have probably been found by now. What better way to hide a child than on a yacht, at sea, where everyone else is looking out for her on land? Let's hope there will be a breakthrough very soon!

i pray like thousands of others that little madeleine will be returned to her family any day soon. my daughter turned 4 4 days after madeleine and i feel i have gone through every heartbreaking moment with gerry and kate mccann. every day i keep hoping for a newsflash to say she has turned up safe and unharmed.the strength her parents have shown has been remarkable as i dont think i could survive if this nightmare had happened to our family despite the fact i have 3 other beautiful children as well as my 4 yr old. i pray to god every night for the safe return of madeleine and just want to offer my heartfelt support to the mccanns-keep believing and know that you all have the love and prayers of ordinary people across many countries. please , please bring madeleine home-she needs her mummy and daddy.
fitzsimons family, belfast, northern ireland
Like lots of other people Madeleine is now my waking thought. Overnight news that someone has found her. What relief to millions that would be, to her mummy and daddy and brother and sister above all. The tears are still flowing but I feel most encouraged by the media. Keeping her in the limelight is of the utmost importance - please dont ever let her go..
Dear McCann family - take whatever is thrown your way by means of help. Dont listen to anything negative about you. Stand tall as you are now. Obviously the people who think you are enjoying these offers are very sad indeed.
When this disgraceful nightmare ends, when all the bureacracy is finally dealt with PLEASE let NO STONE UNTURNED evolve into an even bigger campaign to rout out these grotesque people who abduct children and that it helps other families. However horrid, we need to know the facts. We need to build on these cases.
Sending love and hugs to little Madeleine.

cry and pray everyday for Madeleine but if it was my child i would force the portuguese police to get in british sniffer dogs which they refused - apparently the best in the world. i would go into every room and house in the resort and morocco where the only decent sighting appears to have come from. Apparently the scent goes after 28 days - why this hasnt been done - i believe they did try portuguese dogs once but it didnt show up anything. The McCanns have a lot of support and money being offered so its not a case of lack of resources. It doesnt matter if the dogs are british, american or from mars - get the best and get them in. The media coverage they are receiving is fantastic and ALL children who go missing should get this kind of coverage. However, because most people know what she looks like she is likely now to be hidden away - the only chance surely is for her to be sniffed out esp. as there appear to be alot of basement rooms in Portugal. Get those dogs in NOW!
sue, basingstoke, uk
I am from the Acores or Portugal, and I have 3 girls. My youngest will be 4 in August. Needless to say that this story has captured my attention. I can not imagine what Madeleine's parents are going through. Every time I look into my daughters eyes, I see Madeleine and think of the fear she must be feeling. It's truly awful. To know that this can happen to anyone at anytime is the worst part of this story. We as parents are all vulnerable. We need to keep our children safe as much as we can, keep them close to us. I have prayed for her safe return to her parents and I encourage them to keep doing what they are doing to bring their daughter back to them safe. I know as a parent, there would be no part of this earth that I would not travel until she were safe w/me in my arms. Let's keep praying for her safe return and throw all negativity away. Let's pray for Madeleine & all the lost children of the world, that they be reunited w/their loved ones, soon.
Leticia, Burlington, MA
Please do not give up hope, pursue all possible leads, also the immediate area around the apartment that was mentioned by one of the psychics. The sweet child must be found safe and well and be returned to her loving family. I send positive thoughts and blessings and pray that the family will be reunited very soon. I am constantly thinking of her and her family and wish I could do more to assist. However, my belief is that SCOTLAND YARD must be involved in an intense way, and must be brought in forthwith. Bring in the private investigators also, as they are
able to do amazing things. Use all possible assistance, search many routes, countries, eg. what about the East, or Africa. She is somewhere and is waiting to be rescued.
L. Becker, Cape Town, South Africa
A British Citizen and a Child at that has been abducted in a foreigh country. The Government should be providing all the necessary help to ensure Madeleine's safe return to her family. Enough is enough lets just get in there and get it sorted. It is taking over my life God knows how the McCanns are coping. Four weeks is long enough and if are reading this and have Madeleine please please put her in a safe place where she can be found. She is just an innocent little girl who needs her family.
Debbie Holmes, Rossendale, England
i wish "adults" would stop using poor little madeleine to vent their own anger or political/social opinions. i say keep all that to yourself as it is non-constructive right now. we just need to keep focused on getting madeleine home, she is what is important, i send out lots of positive energy and love. i just really do feel she is still alive and the more we all just keep looking for her (putting posters up/myspace/whatever you can do) the quicker her nightmare ends. i know this world is a big place but really, it is possible to find her. i personally won't rest until she's home. and to the angry man from lisbon - just chill out, you could be doing something helpful.
lucy , london,
I have a message for the abductor.
What you have done may have satisfied a craving which was greater than you could control but in doing what you have done, you have caused unimagineable grief to Madeleine's parents.
May be you have suffered in your childhood. May be you didn't enjoy the love that the child that you stole enjoyed.
But nothing will make that better.
You will read this, I am sure.
I appeal neither to God, nor the Pope, nor to any other being but you.
Put an end to this suffering. Show, even though the world condemns you, that you still possess some responsibility for your actions.
Let someone know where this child is.
Greg Hopkins, Beaconsfield, Bucks
Everyone needs to keep their eye on the ball. Maddy is the top priority, we need to all support each other no matter what and help look for her.
Two heads are better than one, and in this case, all ideas, and help should be welcome. Everyone needs to keep politics out of this, it is now an international terroristic attack on our own children. What worries me most, is copy cats.
If we all stick together as a united front, the impression may make people like the ones who took Maddy, think twice. If we fight with one another and fumble over each other, it is counter productive and not what is best for Maddy or her parents.
We should start an international parents group where eyes are everywhere, protecting that what we love most and we will all take care of our children every where! Amber Alert here in the United States has had great success. Because we stick together.
Susan, Spata, NJ
I can only agree with D Calow, we need to keep focusing on this story and all of us try our best to find her. As many people I wish I could go out there and help, do something to reunite this little girl with her parents and her brother and sister. We all cannot imagine what Madeleine must be going through and it makes me very angry when I hear people blaming the parents for neglecting her. I have 2 daughters myself, age 3 and 5, and we always leave them in the hotel room or apartment, this is why we choose this kind of holiday, as it is safe. The kidnapppers would have taken her anyway, they would have found another way, this was planed from A to Z.
I am so much hoping that for once there is a happy end to this horrible story and that one of the people involved in taking her finally realised this is a huge mistake, Madeleine needs to be back with her family, please let her go!!!!
I am here to support the McCanns, in any way I can!
Chantal, Reading,
I worry about some of the people who are obsessing over this story. If some of what these people are writing are true, they are probably phsychologically ill and should receive counselling and perhaps medication.
It looks like there are a lot of confused and depressed people making comments.
Freeman, Oxford, UK
We turn the news on everytime we pass the tv even in the middle of the night, hopeing our prayers have been answered and Madeliene has been returned safe and well, i am a mother and a grandmother and it seems like we are trying to find one of our own family. we love you Maddy please come back, our thoughts go out to Madelienes parents Kate & Gerry Mccan, God Bless you all and may your prayer be answered very soon.
C Taylor, Bristol, UK
I am not able to put into words how the abduction of Madeleine has effected me, Just like the comments made by D Calow from Notts, UK , I too ache day and night at the thought of this gorgeous little girl being away from home and alone. My daughter is nearly four years old and so I am constantly aware of the heart ache and what Madeleines reactions might be. I know there is suffering all around the world every day, but this has affected me so much and is currently all I think about. I am doing all the little things I can. Please be safe Madeleine and come home soon. All my love and thoughts are with you xxxx
D Cox, Northants, England
Please keep Madeleine in the news. I believe she too is alive and needs to have us act as her advocates for her. It is our prayer that her abductor releases her without any harm to herself and that she can be safely returned to her family, where she belongs. For many of us who feel so helpless at home just waiting on news, thanks to those who have the power in media for keeping it fresh in our minds.
Esther Hughes, Kinross, Scotland
I would just like to say that I ache for madeleine morning and night and beg for that child to be returned to her parents, I have a blonde 4 year old daughter and we are going away soon and I will be so vigilant on the lookout for madeleine and would love to find her. For those of you that feel that this has gone on too much you make me sick, I would rather you kept your opinions to yourselves, you certainly do not have a heart, this is a child, a human being and yes I understand there are other missing children out there but at this moment in time Madeleines parents are going to hell and back trying to do the best they can to find her, cant you just support them, not punish them? I couldnt personally care less about a boat burnt and Tony Blair! all that is important as far as I am concerned is god knows where this child is and who she is with and feel sick to the stomach if she is suffering. Lets just support this couple who need us, for gods sake..
D Calow, Notts, UK
one minute is all a ask knock on the house next door if they are not well known to you lissin for children who are heard but never seen . who ever harms a child may think they have gotten away with it but god will make sure they dont .dont be scared knock.
turley, liverpool, england
I feel the same as many people have said here, This case has touched me deeply, when I wake up in the morning this is the first thing I think of. I've cried a lot. If God exists I really beg for her soon and safe return home.
Ampy, Stgo., Chile
Apart from the lady who saw that man with the little girl in his arms, and did not realise at first that it was Maddie, someone must have heard something.
I am really surprised that the police did not think of a kidnap
I hope they find her, I have received the email that her uncle has sent with photographs of Maddie, and I have resent it to all my friends here in Italy and in France.
Cristina, La Spezia, Italy
I know this has been raised many a time but madeleine is not the first or last small child to go missing, what makes her circumstances so special that an international campaign has been sparked in order to try and find her? although i wish the mccanns no ill will, and i sincerely hope that she is found alive and well, and mean no offense when i say this, but isnt it a little over the top? and if not can we hope to see more campaigns like this in the future to find lost british children?
curtis anderson, gloucester, united kingdom
This is getting really pathetic now. The media coverage of this story has already exceeded all reasonable proportions. The Times should get back to real news soon.
Matthias, Birmingham,
Madeleine's story has affected me so deeply, especially since my daughter is the same age. I wish I could do more and have been so distraught and can only imagine what her parents are going through. I can only imagine what Madeleine is going through. Dear Lord I pray for you to bring Madeleine back home safely to her parents and send your angels to protect and comfort her and her family. Never forget until she comes home!!!!!
Carmen, Beech Creek, Pennsylvania USA
How jolly. Meeting the Pope.
No matter what pain they are going through, Its worse for their daughter,
Moses_Ironnob, hk,
I am in Virginia, USA, and I wanted to let British and international readers know that we are in the USA are indeed learning about and hearing about Madeleine. I noticed that this was the cover story for "People" magazine (which I do not read regularly, but I saw the cover on newsstands). And tonight, there was coverage of Madeleine's story on ABC Television's "Nightline" program. I am glad that her parents will have time with the Pope, and I hope and pray that this little girl is found very, very soon!
Linda, Arlington, USA, Virginia
Surely this is the whole point. The fact that this case is but one very sad and tragic case has enabled the spotlight to also shine on other such "disappearances" . Madeleine has come to symbolise all missing children and if she can be found with all this attention, physical and financial help then there is hope for the others that are missing and for those that, heaven forbid, will go missing in the future. Don't let's forget that this is bringing global awareness to the fact that well over a million children a year 'disappear' - which equates to about 400 a day. This is surely the beginning of something very much greater than simply the search for Madeleine. But this particular search has to succeed for the repurcussions to be effective. And to do so we have to help in whatever way we can. Remember too that the offer was of a private jet and not of the monetary equivalent.
iris, utrecht, netherlands
As someone has said here losing a child and the quest to get her back very quickly is what is on their minds, and that is all that is on their minds at the moment. Anyone who harps on about them using a private jet needs their head examining as they have two other kids to see and this is simply the fastest way. These two people didn't ask to be thrust into the spotlight so they should feel free to use everything in their power to get Madeleine back home where she belongs. I also agree the States should be picking this story up. There are lots of other children who have been lost since Madeleine was lost but maybe Madeleine's story, if it is made big enough, can help us find out who are behind these sorts of abductions and so prevent this happening so often.
John, Dundee, UK
I have been following this situation very closely. I"m saddened and horrified for the McCann's. My children and I pray for her safe return and for the safe return of all children who are abducted. There are so many sick people in this world. But there are millions of good people out there too! We need to pray (no matter what religion) for the safe return of Madeleine. The power of prayer is insurmountable!! It will prevail.
Marlene, Tunkannock, PA
Matt, from Germany. This very story is making people aware of the children who have been abducted. It has given publicity to cases that have been forgotten by the media. However, at the moment I can only focus on Madeleine. Like countless others I cannot function properly until this little girl is returned to her parents. Then I have vowed i will do everything in my power to help fight the pedophiles who prey on our children. I agree that Mr and Mrs McCann should take every kindness offered to them to aid them in their quest.
Jo, Sydney, Australia
I prayed last night with my daughter 14 months, for a safe return home of the little, sweet, beautiful Madeleine. It is true that thousands of children have had the same unlucky destiny, but this little girl is in our minds, in our hearts at all time. At night I dream to find her, and call her mother saying Mrs.Mccan I found Your daughter, she is fine, she is playing with mine and waiting for you.The power of the mind is strong, and if we all think in the right and positive way, she will be found.Let's keep on praying.
Adriana, napoli, italy
Madeleine has a HUGE place in my heart and mind and I know that this is true for thousands and thousands of people. If only Madeleine knew this!
Stay strong Madeleine.. you have a Mummy and Daddy and they love you to bits.
Madeleine is at the forefront of my mind all day and all night. I pray too that this agony stops today or very soon. What an absolute nightmare.
Let her be released or found. Coverage in the news is helping and it shouldn't stop. That would be sending out the wrong message to the abductors. Thank you to the Times for keeping Madeleine's plight in the headlines. She desperately needs you.
Tracey from Paris
tracey, paris, france
You don't have to be a "celebritie" to be on Larry King. He has interviewed people from all over the world in all types of situations...It would be a wonderful way to make aware people in the US since it is barely on the news here and to help our organizations in the US to find other missing children. To learn by some other things the McCanns are able to do in finding there child may also help another child to be found. It is about Madeleine and it is about every missing child. The McCann can make more people aware. I don't think its an offer they should turn down especially for the coverage they will receive from either show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
D & D, New Haven, United States
I pray for Madeleine's safe return several times a day. I too believe she is still alive and that raising her awareness is crucuial to her being found. I believe all leads have to be carefully scrutinised before they can be acted upon to prevent wasting valuable police time and if in this process, the McCann's are able to assist the search for their beloved daughter, then they must avail themselves of all offers to do so especially when it allows them to return home to Madeleine's siblings as soon as possible.
Julie Williams, Hertfordshire, UK
I agree that it is a very nice gesture by Mr Green, although cant help but think that the £000s of pounds that the private jet would cost (jet, fuel, crew etc) even for just the one journey, could be better spent elsewhere in the campaign to find Madeleine.
J Woods, London, England
This is for sure a tragic case but one should not forget the thousands of children missing who do not get this kind of publicity.

The sighting of a little girl at a petrol station in Marrakesh with a man seems to be the only one that comes close to the description released on Friday. If it wasn't Madeleine, why would this little girl even have asked "Can I see mommy soon"? It's a pity that the Norwegian woman did'nt know about the abduction at the time otherwise she could have done something about it. I hope for Maddie's sake the investigation in Morocco and neighbouring countries is still continuing and that the police haven't just given up on the search there. We don't hear anything about an ongoing investigation in Morocco and I hope that private investigators are now being used on this case as well. I hope Maddie will be returned to her parents asap! I'd hate to think what this little girl must be going through.

stacey - in USA -I feel exactly the same as you do. I cannot function - this whole episode has affected me so badly I feel incapacitated. I cannot sleep or do any work. I think that the british police should stop fussing about being polite - a child's life is at stake. The Portuguese police seem to be so sloppy and incompetent. Please can someone take control. I BEG YOU.

What an extraordinary story.

The disappearance of this little girl is indeed very sad. However I fail to see what good a child psychologist will do to these twins
damian, London,
I have a pen friend in USA. She hasn't heard of Madeleine's disappearance. That was a few days ago. The story needs to be put on to the American media as soon as possible.
Elaine, Manchester,
i just wish them all the luck in the world. of course they are not trying to be celebrities - they just wan their daughter back - anyone would do the same put in their situation. the person who has taken her clearly needs serious help and i hope they get it as soon as they return her to her family where she belongs.. sending madeleine a big hug and love to her family for keeping so positive and strong, it's the only way to be. xx
lisa, london,
I think a trip to promote the plight of an abducted child can never be "misinterpreted as them enjoying a luxury lifestyle" even if it were in a gold plated aeroplane; I imagine the McCanns would rather walk and have no car but have their daughter with them than use a personal jet [that has very kindly been offered to them] to promote her abduction. Mr & Mrs McCann the strength you have shown is admirable, use all the resources offered to you and enjoy them as the gifts of kindness they are offered.

I am guessing that they have already done so, but have the twins been asked if they saw anything the night Madeleine was taken? I know they are so young, but it is possible that maybe one of them woke up just as the intruder was leaving. Maybe if they were older, they could try the regressive hypnotherapy treatment that sometimes helps people recall things they werent aware were going on?
Claire, Jersey,
I think it is absolutely fair and proper that the McCann's utilise this very kind offer by Sir Philip to ensure a swift journey to and from the Vatican.
Besides, the deserve the proactical comforts and privacy that this will briefly afford them.
Well done to Sir Philip for his kind gesture.
