Authorities need to get tough with these people. International law enforcements have a database where all these people are listed but what use is this. It only helps to provide suspects rather than prevent the crime. Surely prevention is what we are aiming for. Now this may sound far-fetched, I certainly don't think it's an invasion of privacy as they don't really deserve any.

Registered paedophiles should be tagged. Small surgical implants put in under aneasthetic. They provide personal information and location. If a child goes missing, police are notified and pass on crime location details to a hub that can pinpoint registered sex offenders in that area within an hour of the abduction. Police can then track them down before the crime is commited.

Can imagine the response by some people in regards to freedom rights. It doesn't mean they are watched constantly. But being the people they are it's a price they have to pay. And if they try to cut it out, fine, go for your life.

If the "100 volunteers and their 300 friends" were to stumble upon a crime scene, the vital clues, dna etc, would be wiped away by their 800 well meaning legs and would surely wipe any chances for science to do its job.

That's why, I, as a policeman, do my job the way I do, the way I was trained and accept the little thanks I get with humility as I know there is always so much more to learn.

The police were searching initially with 7 officers, and could easily have had 70,000 volunteers, press, t.v. cameras and onlookers if they wished, the problem isn't getting them, but stopping them.
