They are the gilded youth who, as the offspring of Russia’s oligarchs, will never need to worry about where their next billion is coming from.
Now they have been ranked in the first “rich list” of children, compiled by a Russian financial magazine, according to the amount they can expect to inherit from their parents.
Top of the “minigarchs” wealth league was 17-year-old Yusuf Alekperov, the only son of Vagit Alekperov, the president of Russia’s largest private oil company, Lukoil.
He is followed by the two young children of Oleg Deripaska, whose $21.2 billion (£10.5 billion) fortune makes him Russia’s richest oligarch, according to Finans magazine.
Sisters Ekaterina and Lora Fridman, aged 9 and 12, share fourth and fifth places in the list, which ranked younger siblings first. They are the daughters of Mikhail Fridman, the head of the Alfa Group oil and banking empire and Russia’s seventh-richest man.
Although Roman Abramovich is considerably richer, he also has five children. Split equally between them, the $4.2 billion each is enough only to rank Ilya, Arina, Sofia, Arkady and Anna Abramovich from 23rd to 27th respectively in the table.
The youngest on the list are the three-year-old twin daughters of the vodka tycoon Rustam Tariko, 45, who is worth $4.3 billion. His pet dog Dow Jones, which wears a Louis Vuitton collar, may also feel entitled to a share if it lives long enough. The oldest is Kris-tina Krasnyanskaya, 36, whose father Georgi owns a cement business and is worth $1.4 billion.
The list of 70 children will inherit a combined total of $240 billion, according to Finans. Its ranking of Russia’s second-generation super-rich was limited to those who could expect to gain at least $1 billion from their parents.
