Graphic: Flying with Fusionman | Bremner: my day with Rossy
Clouds cleared at the coast today giving hope to the Swiss daredevil who hopes to cross the English Channel equipped only with a carbon-fibre wing and four miniature jet engines.
Yves Rossy aborted his bid yesterday after his look-out Stephane Marmier in Dover warned him of a dark cloud overhead.
Marmier, told The Times that conditions today are ideal. "Today it is perfect weather. If the wind stays like this it will be alright. If something changes maybe we start early."
The Swiss pilot postponed his pioneering journey because he has only his eyes and the position of the sun to guide him.
He said yesterday that instinct, which he described as the "little bees in my body", told him not to risk it. If he gets lost and is forced to land in the water he could die within minutes because he has no wetsuit to protect him from the cold.
The windsock on the top of the cliff indicated a fresh breeze at 11 o'clock this morning, about two hours before he was due to strap on his equipment.

Absolutely fantastic! With typical Swiss precision he's just jetted himself into the annals of history's great pioneers, and I've no doubt that he's also just started something huge here in terms of personal travel..!
Congratulations and well done Yves Rossy..!

The man is extremely intelligent, not your average dare-devil.
He is a commercial airline pilot also.
I like to think of him as a modern day Chuck Yeager / Wright Brothers. I hope Wilbur and Orville are looking down from above and smiling.
David Amos, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
What a tremendous thing Yves has done. It is always a joy to watch someone who knows what they are about succeed.

Well done!!! What a brave MAN.
Not only does he preach what he believes, but stands up and puts into practice his theories.Few people have the courage to stand up and be counted when that time arrives to do so.
John Bennett, York, U.K.
As far as I can see he knew what he was doing, so:
Congratulations!
