A video of Saddam Hussein’s corpse, with a gaping neck wound, was posted on the internet early today — the second leaked release of clandestine pictures from the former Iraqi dictator’s hanging.

The 27-second video, which appeared to have been taken with a camera phone, pans up the shrouded body from the feet. It was apparently taken shortly after Saddam was hanged on December 30.

As the shot reaches his head, the white shroud is pulled back to show his head and neck. The head is twisted at a 90-degree angle to his right. A gaping bloody wound, circular in shape, can be seen about an inch below his jaw line on the left of his neck. His left cheek is marked with red blotches, and there is blood on the shroud where it covered his head.

The video was posted on an Iraqi news website known to support Saddam’s outlawed Baath party. (AP)
