Tribes inhibit the forming of nations - one reason why there is so much bloodshed in Iraq. A person's loyalties end at the tribe. Those not of the tribe are the "others". Hi Leroy, Tribes is the right word. In parts of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other areas of the world, the social and political unit is "the tribe" with its own family names, history and set of rules and codes. The tribal leader is the authority. US troops accept and work with these leaders.
