Iran accused France yesterday of adopting an “unfriendly” position in Tehran's nuclear row with the West, and said that the military base Paris was setting up in the Gulf would harm peace in the region.
The Foreign Ministry summoned the French Ambassador to Tehran, Bernard Poletti, in an apparent tit-for-tat response after Paris called in the Iranian envoy last week over anti-Israeli remarks made by its hardline President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
“Iran expressed its objection to France's adopted negative view on Iran's nuclear work and also its backing of the Zionist regime Israel's activities,” the official IRNA news agency said. On Friday the French Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian Ambassador to Paris over a new verbal attack on Israel by Mr Ahmadinejad.
Mohammad Ali Hosseini, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, also criticised a deal that Paris signed with the United Arab Emirates to build France's first permanent military installation in the Gulf, just across the water from Iran.
The base, housing 400 to 500 personnel, will keep French forces within reach of sea lanes through which over a third of global oil shipments pass.

Sarkozy must be still in his honeymoon to think of establishing a base in UAE. I am also surprized to see UAE allowing such base. It seems like a very risky deal as it would only attract the radicals to it's border.

I am surprised our military is allowing the French to have a naval base in the Mexican gulf.
The oil in the Mexican gulf is not for the French.

and I don't understand why the west tore apart Germany to get access to europe, cause a cold war with russia and get millions of people in danger or killed, invade Afghanistan, invade Iraq, cause coups in south america, africa, asia and europe. Veto any resolution against Israel. I think if you want to compare Darfur or South sudan with the west's past in the 20th and 21st century there is no comparison my friend.
Hani, Kuwait,
Somebody needs to read their history books, put down the propaganda and start living with the truth. I for one fear the spread of Islam much more than any Zionist ambition.

"I still dont understand West's complete silence"
Strange that, I don't understand the islamic worlds silence over the murder of 2.5 million black africans in South Sudan and the murder of 250-400,000 black moslems in Darfur.

I still dont understand West's complete silence to Israeli attrocities in Gaza as well as Israeli's over 200 Nuclear bombs, at the same time trying to deny Iran enrichment facility for energy requirements.
Is the Zionist lobby so strong and their money so much as to buy all silence?
