Police have arrested two Israeli settlers on suspicion of assaulting Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank, after the incident was captured on video by a human rights group.
Footage of the attack, which was first aired publicly last week, shows four men beating an elderly shepherd and his wife with long wooden batons. The attackers had donned headscarves to cover their faces.
"Two suspects were arrested in the early hours of this morning,” Micky Rosenfeld, an Israeli police spokesman, told the AFP news agency.
The camera that shot the incident had been handed to a relative of the farmer as part of a project named "Shooting Back" that was launched by B'tselem, an Israeli human rights group. The project, which has already distributed more than 100 small video cameras, aims to provide ordinary Palestinians with video ammunition against those who abuse their rights.
B’tselem claims it investigated 47 cases of assault, gunfire, beating, kicking, or stone-throwing by settlers against Palestinians last year and reported them all to police.
“The settlers gave us a 10-minute warning to clear off from the land,” said Thamam al-Nawaja, 58, after spending three days in hospital following the attack.
Mrs al-Nawaja said she and her 70-year-old husband refused to leave and, as a result, her arm was broken and her left cheek was fractured in the ensuing attack.

Punish sick Israeli's? Am afraid too many!
You need to look closer; the "violent individuals" operate under full cover of "IDF", check out what happened only yester day in Boureen.

The fact that the victims were not only on their own farmland but were elderly innocent Palestinians is disturbing. It is not only the Isreali government/IDF that commit hideous crimes, its the normal Israeli civilian, who can no longer hide, whom also happen to be illegal settlers! Worrying!

When Israelis attack Palestinians, they are arrested and tried. When Palestinians kill Israelis, they are glorified by the Palestinian Authority, by its media and by the population. Worse, they are protected by the ruling authority.
Lily, London,
Even though, regrettably, there are from time to time well-documented cases of assault and thuggery by individual Israelis, there have also been, and continue to be, several examples.of false accusations brought against Israelis, whethers soldiers or residents of the West Bank.
Paul, London,
These sick israeli's must be punished to send out a signal that Israel does not accept such actions by violent individuals.

Groups like B'tselem give me hope for the human race. Any atrocity against a fellow human being, whether they be palestinian or israeli, chinese or taiwanese, hutu or tutsi (and the list goes on) is deplorable. At the end of it all, we are all the same. Why cant we just get along!!!

Israel needs to understand that by diplomacy it can reach the desired peace.
The idf proved for the last 60 years of Israeli occupation of the Palestinian homes and farms, by using its military power brought no peace but radicalization and hatred for the people of the ME.
