All times BST:
1530: The Foreign Office says it is evacuating the families of staff based in Iran.
The Foreign Office move follows its decision to update its own travel advice, as displayed on its website. The revised Travel Advice “now advises British nationals against all but essential travel to Iran”, and adds: “You should avoid demonstrations and large public gatherings. At this stage we do not believe it is necessary to advise British nationals to leave Iran, however we are monitoring the situation with the utmost vigilance."
1453: AP is quoting eyewitnesses who say that riot police are attacking hundreds of protesters with tear gas and firing live bullets into the air to disperse the rally in Haft-e-Tir Square. They said that helicopters hovered overhead while riot police moved into break up the protests.
1345: Reuters is reporting that about 1,000 protesters have gathered on a central Tehran square, ignoring the Revolutionary Guard's warning.
1250: Not protest-related, but Iran has confirmed its first case of swine flu, in a 16-year-old who has been living in the United States and was tested on arrival in the country. The state news agency IRNA says that the teenager has responded well to treatment and "the general situation of the patient is now satisfactory".
1240: The office of Tehran’s prosecutor general says “unknown vandals” who opened fire were responsible for the tyen deaths on Saturday night.
1150: The Revolutionary Guard is threatening to crush any further protests over the disputed presidential election and warns demonstrators to prepare for a “revolutionary confrontation" if they take to the streets again.
According to a statement posted on its website, Iran's most powerful military force ordered demonstrators to “end the sabotage and rioting activities" and said their resistance is a “conspiracy" against Iran.
1130: More on Neda, who she was and how (according to the accounts available) she died.
1045: The 26-year-old woman whose death on Saturday night was caught on video and posted on YouTube has become the posthumous face of the protests. Her name - Neda - is among the top trending topics on Twitter. Tributes on YouTube include this photostream and this from a Canadian singer-songwriter, Johnny Maudlin.
1030: Welcome back to Times live coverage of the Iranian democracy protests.
After Saturday's violence - at least 10 people were killed - the Iranian capital was in shock yesterday and no protests were held. But Mir Hossein Mousavi's supporters will be back out on the streets this afternoon: they're urging demonstrators to carry black candles with green ribbons to show solidarity with the victims of recent unrest. The posts on Twitter speak of a sit-down protest in Haft Tir Square at 4pm (12.30pm UK time). Mousavi's website has asked motorists to turn on their headlights for two hours from 5pm.
The Guardian Council, which oversees elections, has admitted irregularities in 50 constituencies - meaning that more people voted than were actually on the electoral roll. The opposition has said that turnout in some towns exceeded 140 per cent - more than 100 points higher than the recent Euro elections in the UK.
