17.35 Obama has just broken his silence over Iran, with an outspoken attack on the Iranian regime. He said the "patently false" attempts to blame Western governments for the protests would fail and that "no iron fist is strong enough to shut off the world".
17.22 One of the regular Tehran Twitterers is reporting that situation is worsening for opposition demonstrators. "One of us is badly injured and we cannot take to hospital - treating with trusted doctor contacts but needs hospital" and "We are having difficulty getting updates to u as so many of our contacts been arrested - life here is v/v/dangerous now".
17.14 A TwitPic seeming to show an attack on a parked car by police officers.
16.48 Sweden, Finland and Denmark all summoned Iran’s ambassadors today. It seems that some kind of pan-European ring round has sparked a little collective action.
16.28 Gordon Brown confirmed that Britain had ordered two Iranian diplomats to leave London: “I am disappointed that Iran has placed us in this position, but we will continue to seek good relations with Iran and to call for the regime to respect the human rights and democratic freedoms of the Iranian people.”
15.44 BREAKING NEWS Britain has expelled two Iranian diplomats in a tit-for-tat action after Tehran ordered two British diplomats to leave Iran.
15.17 A video has emerged that appears to show Neda with her father watching some of the protests shortly before she was shot dead on the street in Tehran.
15.11 We have collated a profile of Neda Salehi Agha Soltan, whose bloodied face has become a symbol of Iranian defiance.
14.18 Gordon Brown ignored the Iranians' criticism of his government and the BBC today by saying: “We want a very good relationship with the Iranians, we also respect the fact that it’s for the Iranian people themselves to choose who their government is.
“But when there is a sign of repression or where there is violence that’s affecting ordinary people in the streets we have a duty to speak out and to say we want Iran to be part of the world, we don’t want Iran to be isolated from the world."
13.47 Fascinating alternate view here from Russia Today. British and American journalists build each other up into a fit of conspiracy pique - claiming that the "so-called green revoultion" is being used by the likes of CNN and the BBC to take advantage of the Iranian youth. RT is sponsored by the Russian government.
13.24 Reports apparently from inside Iran on Twitter suggest: "Militia all over Tehran on motorbike beating pedestrians for no reason."
13.15 The BBC has found some footage of uniformed Iranians apparently involved in vandalisim. Critics have suggested the Basij and police have been marking the homes of protesters - singling them out for later attacks, arrests or worse.
12.35 The New Statesman are saying that one of their reporters, who also writes for Newsweek, has been arrested without charge in Tehran.
12.26 The family of Kaveh Alipour, 19, who was shot in the head by Iranian security forces on Saturday, say they were told to pay a $3,000 "bullet fee" for the munitions used to kill their son before they were allowed to retrieve his body from the morgue. Relatives say he was returning home from an acting class when he died, a week before his wedding day.
12.11 Iran's government owned television channels continue to downplay protests and label demonstrators as "terrorists". CNN have done a nice round-up of coverage inside Iran.
11.38 The Los Angeles Times spoke to Neda's family who said she loved music, especially Persian pop. She was taking piano lessons, was an accomplished singer and was in no sense a political radical.
11.31 The death of Neda Salehi Agha-Soltan, 26, continues to dominate protest and coverage as her murder becomes an iconic image with echoes of Tiananmen Square.
11.02 A website called the International Business Times is reporting that Iran's Assembly of Experts and the Expediency Council are considering asking Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President, to step aside. These are unconfirmed reports.
10.45 The Iranian regime took a step back from confrontation this morning as it cancelled a rally planned for the British Embassy. Students loyal to conservative hardliners were expected to accuse the British Government of assisting protesters and destabilising Tehran.
