Associated Press is now also reporting that witnesses have seen protesters involved in clashes with Iranian riot police near Iran's parliament in Tehran.

17.13 Huffington Post has uploaded a compelling interview broadcast on CNN today. A female student from Tehran describes what she says was a bloody crackdown by militia wielding batons and bats that she witnessed first hand - she claims that people were thrown off a bridge and beaten until they were drenched in blood.
16.49 Reuters is reporting that today's protest was only attended by around 200 protesters - signs that the regime has succeeded in quashing the mass demonstrators.

14.31 Reports now suggest that phone signal has gone down in the area surrounding the protest.
14.17 The wife of Iran’s opposition leader said the government crackdown amounted to military rule. Zahra Rahnavard, who campaigned beside her husband, Mir Hossein Mousavi says it is “as if martial law has been imposed in the streets”.
