Attend an evening with Andre Agassi

There are two conflicting themes fighting for control of the outfit Naomi Campbell chose to wear for her first day of community service in New York.
A supermodel to the core, there was no way Campbell was going to let go of her four-inch Christian Louboutin heels; not exactly conducive with floor moping, they reaffirm her fashionable side, but not in a pretty, ladylike way.
These heels are mean heels. By wearing them, Campbell is saying that she won’t be told what to do, even though every one knows that for five days only, she couldn’t be further from being the boss.
Sticking with designer labels, she is also parading a Chanel baker boy hat. With the unmistakable interlocking C logo, Campbell is reminding us that she might be the lowest on the rung at an American sanitation unit, but this girl will always be synonymous with money and style.
The coat is similarly luxurious and is not the obvious outwear when wearing a boiler suit. The coat, shoes and hat reaffirm Campbell’s Uptown status and she doesn’t want you forget to it. She might be a diva, but Campbell isn’t stupid.
Judging by the work wear she is also, er, working. Not exactly Haute Couture, her baggy trousers look durable enough for hours on her knees and the thick poloneck will keep her warm if the conditions are dismal and damp.
Sounds like a genuine commitment to the cause until you focus on the builder boots slung over her shoulder. It might look like a sensible move considering the boots she has on her feet, but look at their enormous size and you’ll realise this is just a tokenistic work-girl gesture. Or perhaps it’s a new It bag?
Whatever the case, as much as Campbell wants to fit in with her new work mates, she just can’t change her spots.
