Unfortuately Britney has bi polar disorder - so does my partner. He too exhibited strange behaviour, had lost all sense of judgement and could not see the impact of any actions he took. Lucky for us his ill health was not reported all over the papers. Britney wont get help as I doubt she believes there is anything wrong, My partner argued with three senior psychatrists and two social workers that they were wrong and he was not ill. He also cut anyone out of his life who posed a threat to his lifestyle ie his family sound like anyone we have read about? He had to be sectioned against his will to get help in the end. It is impossible to reason and be rational with someon whose mind is totally unrational. I really hope that Britneys family get her somwhere for treatment before its too late. Her gran shot herself in the head with a shotgun using her toe at the age of 31 so mental health issues are in the family.

Money by no means solves people's problems - it creates more than it does solve. I think it is naive to say that just because she's wealthy she deserves no sympathy. What I want to know is where are her family - her mum and dad? Surely they should be stepping in and helping right about now?

i would love the financial backing to just go see someone, have a chat, get counciling once in a while..infact, it's probably healthy to do it when youre in good form too! to keep the demons at bay! I'd love to chill out in some mountain resort, escape the world etc... get back to earth... I just have no sympathy for people with money... the world is at their feet, and they still feel sorry for themselves... shes got something crazy like over 10million in the bank... jesus, get a self help cd at least!

She has been hounded, followed, stalked, exploited, teased and generally abused by the media that made her in the first place. So, of course, she is in no fit state to look after children, however emotionally attached she may feel. But where does responsibility lie? Well, ultimately with her for not knowing where to draw the line of privacy up and find a way to get it. But also with those paparazzi types, who neglected to remember that she is ultimately, just like any of us, a human being needing love and care, not just endless attention.

Who knows if her exposure to fame or her family dynamics is responsible for Britney's instability but one thing is for sure, she has been hounded and ridiculed by the paparazzi relentlessly since she split from Kevin Federline. Charles Spencer said after Diana died "that every proprietor and editor of every publication that has paid for intrusive and exploitative photographs of her has blood on their hands today." If Britney does end up as a tragic story then a proportion of responsibility will lie with the tabloid media.

Why is it that we all appear to cope well with physical disablement but when it comes to mental illness none of us have the ability to understand? Britney is obviously suffering from some form of mental instability and the loss of her children has probably pushed her over the edge. We should be all shouting she needs support instead of condemning her, we all walk a fine line even those of us who believe we are stable, if you are condemning the woman then I personally would be questioning your stability! Who are we to judge? Take a closer look at your own life and if it is stable - THANK GOD!

I honestly see a girl here that is crying out for help. As a mother I dont condone her actions nor will I try to make excuses for her. I see a woman who has had her world turned upside down and her babies taken from her. I would be beside myself if someone tried to take my child from me.

Those boys need their mother, she needs to get the help she deserves and once she is healthy she needs to be allowed to see her children again. Kevin is a money hungry, gold digger. Thats it, he doesn want those boys, he took a huge blow to his ego and is therefore retaliating the only way possible by taking her children from her. He is trying to hurt her but in the process he is going to destroy his children.

I know I know the whole "SHe's a celebrity" thing and she doesn't have normal human rights but the more bad publicity comes out of this the more screwed up she's gonna get, she needs mental care not to be told she's a bad person all the time. Agree with most of what claire says - but Claire, spare a thought for the millions of dads (me included) across the world who have women do this to them all the time. We get sod all support, no sympathy, no care, no contact.

Despite having every sympathy with the girl, and I would offer any support I could to anybody in that situation, a little part of me is glad to see the father getting custody from the unstable mother (the complete reverse of my case).

Does Britney love her kids? Who knows?
Should she have ever married K-Fed? - I seriously doubt it
Does she need help? Absolutely.
Perhaps being 'sectioned' may provide the support and help needed to turn around. Indeed not being around people who are paid to please her and provide her with some much-needed care and boundaries may prove to be a very good thing.

As more details come out, it appears that Britney locked herself in the bathroom with Jayden and the authorities had to break the door down to rescue the child. Britney's currently being held on a "5150" - involuntary psychiatric hold often given to those who are deemed dangerous to themselves or others - for evaluation. As I understand it, Kevin Federline's attorney is court today to terminate all visitation rights.

It's a very sad thing, but this young woman clearly needs help getting her own life in order before she can be trusted with the care of young children.
