It is a sale that is out of this world. More than 1,000 pieces from the set of Star Trek are up for grabs, including pointy Vulcan ears and costumes worn by all the main characters.
And if you fancy taking on the role of captain in your lounge then you will have to find more than £6,000 to lay claim to the chair from which Captain James T Kirk gave the commands in the 1986 film Star Trek IV:The Voyage Home.
It is the first official auction of Star Trek studio items ever held, and material from the vaults of CBS Paramount Television Studios includes props, weapons and detailed models of the Starship Enterprise, alien ships and space stations.
The sale of over 1,000 lots, at Christie’s in New York in October, coincides with the 40th anniversary of one of the most successful television shows ever, which began with a rejected pilot called The Cage in 1964, with the first Star Trek aired in 1966.
Over the years Star Trek has earned an estimated £15 billion from its small screen series, feature films, syndication, DVDs, books, theme park rides, merchandise and licensing.
The sale, in October, is cautiously estimated to make £800,000, but experts believe the true figure will be much higher.
Costumes worn by all of the main characters, including William Shatner as Captain Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Mr Spock, the half man, half Vulcan science officer and second in command, DeForest Keeley as Lieutenant Commander "Bones" McCoy, James Doojan as Lieutenant Commander "Scotty" Scott and Nichelle Nichols as Lieutenant Uhura are all on offer.
So too are four models of the Enterprise, including a five foot long one used in the title sequence of the TV series Star Trek:The Next Generation. It is estimated to sell for £19,000 but the price could rocket.
The Starfleet uniform worn by Captain Kirk in the 1982 film The Wrath of Khan is expected to fetch over £4,000, with a similar guide price being given for Mr Spock’s uniform from Star Trek:The Motion Picture in 1979.
The mini-dress worn by Lieutenant Uhura in the original series is expected to go for over £3,000.
For £6,500 a Trekkie could buy the Starfleet uniform worn by the Enterprise’s next commander, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart.
Helen Bailey, head of entertainment memorabilia in New York, said: "This stuff is directly from the shows - you couldn’t get a better provenance. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans to acquire something from the Star Trek studios."
Other highlights include a miniature Enterprise used in visual effects for the 1991 film The Undiscovered Country, (£10,700) while smaller items include Vulcan jewellery.
Cathy Elkies, director of special collection at Christie’s, said: "Star Trek has been a cornerstone of American popular culture for 40 years and it continues to impact on generations of fans around the globe.
"Never has a collection of this scope and depth come to the auction market - nor will it ever again."
Whatever it is you fancy, be warned - you may have to boldly go to the bank manager as fans include Bill Gates and Jordan’s King Abdullah.
