The first hard evidence has emerged that Bill Clinton dreams of turning his family into a political dynasty along the lines of the Kennedys and the Bushes.
While he says he will throw his support behind his wife Hillary if she takes the job of Secretary of State, it appears that it is their daughter Chelsea who he really wants to take on his political heritage.
"She (Chelsea) is the best politician in our family," he said in an interview with the German celebrity magazine Bunte.
"Hillary and I are very proud of her because she never tried to take advantage of our position. I would think it was wonderful if Chelsea went into politics."
While it is the first time the former President has spoken publicly of political ambitions for his daughter, she is already being spoken of in Democrat circles as the next President Clinton.
Campaigning for her mother during Hillary Clinton's run for the Democratic nomination for the presidency, the 28-year-old was widely admired for her poise, eloquence and elegance.
After she appeared at a student college in South carolina to campaign for her mother, one student blogger described her as: "Intelligent, nice voice, sexy. She’s really blossomed into a hot woman."
If some see her a the Clinton dynasty's best political hope, her parents have done nothing to discourage that view, lavishing her with praise at every turn.
"She has a wonderful wholeness about her," her father told the Los Angeles Times earlier this year. "I have to hold myself back so I don’t sound like a babbling idiot. I’m just so proud of her. She’s turned out to be a wonderful human being."
Chelsea would not be eligible to run for the White House for another seven years, when she turns 35. But if she chooses to leave Avenue Capital, the hedge fund manager where she currently works, her greatest campaigners would be her own parents..
