Now in their 20th year, The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year awards, in association with Sony Ericsson, celebrate the outstanding contribution made by women in a variety of different areas to British sporting life.
The Awards are not restricted solely to the superstars who win medals at major championships or break world records, but include administrators who work tirelessly behind the scenes, PE teachers whose own passion encourages a lifelong attachment to sport among their pupils, and coaches who, often unpaid and unrecognised, nurture the talent of our next generation of athletes.
In addition to the eight categories we invite you to nominate in (which are listed below), a Lifetime Achievement Award and Overseas Sportswoman of the Year Award, sponsored by Sony Ericsson, will be selected by the judging panel to be presented on the day.
This is your chance to celebrate the achievements of women participating and involved in sport over the past 12 months.

Celebrating the achievements of Britain’s most successful teams

For coaches, administrators and people working behind the scenes who make a
difference, at all levels of sport
PE Teacher of the Year
Highlighting the outstanding contribution of those who teach physical
education
Young Sportswoman of the Year
Nominees must be under 21 years of age
The Helen Rollason Award for Inspiratio
Recognising inspirational endeavour
The Champions Award
For teams and individuals who don’t compete in the spotlight but have had an
outstanding year
University Sporting Achievement of the Year
For teams and individuals who have excelled whilst studying at university
Sportswoman of the Year
The ultimate accolade for your favourite sportswoman of this year

The awards will be presented at a glittering lunch at Lord’s cricket ground on Tuesday November 20. By nominating, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to the main event.

Prize Draw Terms and Conditions
1. Closing date for nominations is midday Friday October 12, 2007.
2. You may nominate in as many categories as you wish but only once each
time. By nominating, you will be automatically entered into the prize draw.
3. Nominating is free but entrants should be aware that they may be subject to
local call charges depending on their own individual arrangements for
Internet access.
4. To be eligible for the prize draw you must submit you nomination in the
form provided by TNL under this promotion including your name, address and
e-mail address. Failure to do so may result in you not being entered for the
prize draw and your nominee not being put forward for the relevant award.
5. By nominating, you agree to abide by each and all these terms and
conditions. TNL reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude you
and withhold prizes for violating any of these terms and conditions. TNL
reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Any amendments will
be published on the Website.
6. There is one prize. The winner will be drawn at random from all correctly
submitted nominations received prior to the closing date. The winner will be
notified by email within 7 days of the closing date. All reasonable
endeavours will be made to contact the winner during this time. If the
winner cannot be contacted, is not available or cannot accept the prize as
set out in these terms and conditions then TNL reserves the right to re-draw
the prize.
7. The prize is two tickets to the 2007 Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year
Awards on Tuesday 20th November 2007 at Lord’s cricket ground. Prize
includes lunch and champagne reception. All other costs and expenses
including travel to the event are the responsibility of the winner.
8. There is no cash or other alternative to the prize stated and the prize is
not transferable and no part or parts of the prize may be substituted for
other benefits, items or additions.
9. TNL will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of
any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or
prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the competition.
Other than death or personal injury arising from the acts or omissions of
TNL, or their employees, TNL will not be liable for any loss or damage
arising out of the winner or their guest’s enjoyment of the prize
10. By entering, any subsequent prize winners agree to allow the free use of
their names, photographs and general locations for publicity and news
purposes during this and future promotions by TNL or any associated or
subsidiary company of News International Limited.
11. Uses of personal data received by TNL in the course of the promotion are
subject to the privacy policy found on the Website. Winners' names may be
published on the Website.
12. Submission of a nomination will be deemed acceptance of these terms and
conditions.
13. TNL reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the
competition (including altering prizes) if, in their sole discretion, a
competition is not capable for being conducted as specified. TNL reserves
the right to substitute a prize of equal value in the event that
circumstances beyond their control make this unavoidable.
