CARDIFF
(day three of four: Derbyshire won toss):
Close. Derbyshire 289 and 4 for 0. Glamorgan 384 (GP Rees 104, DL Hemp 104, CK Langeveldt 5 for 100).
Lunch
David Hemp, the Glamorgan captain, fell to the eighth ball of the day when he was caught at short leg propping forward to Nayan Doshi but his 104 off 178 balls with a six and 132 fours had put his side in a commanding position..
Jamie Dalrymple and Mark Wallace stretched their lead to 56 but then Charl Langeveldt, Drbyshire’s South Africa fast bowler, pegged them back with an inspired spell with the second new ball.
Langeveldt took five for 22 in seven overs, bowling Wallace, Dalrymple and James Harris, having Robert Croft caught behind and David Harrison taken at mid off to restrict Glamorgan’s first innings advantage to 95.
Tea/Close
Glamorgan had given the new ball to James Harris, who was celebrating his 18th birthday, and Robert Croft, who is approaching 38, but they managed only one over apiece before rain set in during the lunch interval and washed out the rest of the day’s play.
