1) 146* for Middlesex v Somerset at Uxbridge, July 24, 1990
Ramprakash was barely out of his teens for this match but already he was a player whom Middlesex depended on. Set 369 to beat Somerset in 69 overs, Ramprakash set about the attack with gusto, putting on 105 for the third wicket with Desmond Haynes and then taking responsibility on himself when the West Indies batsman was out. He made 146 off 133 balls with five sixes to see Middlesex home with just one ball to spare. Not only did it bring him to the national attention but the win ultimately helped Middlesex to win the county championship.
2) 154 for England v West Indies in Barbados, May 13, 1998
Who says he couldn't do pressure situations for England? The touring side were 53 for four in the face of Courtney Walsh and Curtley Ambrose when Ramprkash came out to bat and effectively 55 for five soon after when Graham Thorpe retired hurt (temporarily) with a back spasm. Ramprakash led the revival, adding 76 with Jack Russell and then 205 with a revived Thorpe to take England past 300 and eventually on for a draw that kept them in the Test series. Shame that they lost the next match (and the series) by an innings with Ramprakash making 14 and 0.
3) 133 for England v Australia at The Oval, August 25, 2001
It may have been a dead match with the Ashes already lost but there is still something impressive and special about scoring a hundred in a Test on your home ground (as the Oval was by this stage for Ramprakash after his move to Surrey). Australia had batted first and declared on 641 for four. England's reply was nothing special, except for Ramprakash's six-hour innings. No one else scored more than 55 and England duly followed on. In the second innings Ramprakash made only 19 but that was still better than four other members of the top six as England lost by an innings.
4) 119* for Surrey v Lancashire at The Oval, May 11, 2002
Another important second-innings hundred that helped a county to win the championship. Surrey were 100 runs behind on the first innings thanks to a hundred, scored at more than a run a ball, by Lancashire's Andrew Flintoff, but Azhar Mahmood took eight wickets for the home side in Lancashire's second innings to mean that Surrey needed 305 batting last to win the match. Ramprakash made 109 for the fifth wicket with Alec Stewart but his cool head was crucial as Surrey kept on losing wickets, eventually squeaking home with three wickets to spare. They went on to win the title
5) 301* for Surrey v Northamptonshire at The Oval, August 3, 2006
In a high-scoring match with almost 1,500 runs scored, Ramprakash made the most and the biggest score of his career as Surrey batted second. He shared a second-wicket partnership of 187 with Scott Newman and a third-wicket stand of 353 with his close friend Mark Butcher. And made the runs fast enough to ensure that there was still time for Northants to bat again for more than a day and lose. Surrey won the second division that season and Ramprakash had five hundreds in games that they won.
