The winners of Saturday's Twenty20 Cup final will be invited to take part in Sir Allen Stanford's Super Series in the Caribbean this autumn.
Either Kent, Essex, Durham or Middlesex will play three matches in the lead up to England's £10 million winner-takes-all match with the Stanford Superstars on November 1. The English county will play matches against England, the Stanford Super Stars and Trinidad & Tobago, the West Indian Twenty20 champions, who have also be invited to take part in the expanded series.
David Collier, the ECB's chief executive, says he thinks the event will help to take take county cricket to another level.
"This Stanford game is obviously a great game for the counties to go to," he said. "It's a great opportunity for the champions to play Trinidad & Tobago, a real opportunity to link the domestic game with international game."
Collier also confirmed that there would be no appearance fees on offer for England players in their winner-takes-all clash.
Kevin Pietersen is delighted to see county players getting involved in Stanford's Twenty20 events as well as international stars.
"It's fantastic for us (England) players to have the opportunity on November 1 (against the All Stars) and then for the county players too," he said. "It's like everything is happening at once which is great. It's great for the county players tomorrow."
Richie Richardson, the former West Indies batsman, added: "It's going to create interest and enthusiasm that's been lacking in West Indies cricket."
