April 20: Moores, National Cricket Centre director, is named as permanent successor to Fletcher less than 24 hours after the Zimbabwean’s decision is made public. ECB chief executive David Collier reveals Moores’ appointment was part of a contingency and succession plan at Lord’s.
May 21: England draw the first npower Test of the summer against West Indies at Lord’s.
June 18: Michael Vaughan stands down as England one-day captain during the the fourth npower Test.
June 19: Moores celebrates his maiden series win at the first attempt as England complete a 3-0 success over the tourists at Chester-le-Street.
June 22: Paul Collingwood is named as Vaughan’s limited-overs successor.
July 7: England lose one-day series to West Indies 2-1, after the Twenty20 matches were shared.
August 13: England lose their first home Test series in six years, 1-0 to India.
September 8: With Andrew Flintoff back from injury, England complete a 4-3 one-day series victory over India, although they disappoint later in the month in Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa.
October 13: A consolation win for Sri Lanka cannot dampen the mood after England win a rare one-day series away from home.
December 23: England return home from Sri Lanka having lost a Test series littered with ragged play 1-0.
2008 - March 9: England are soundly beaten as New Zealand spring a major surprise in the opening Test of the year.
