Middlesbrough have agreed personal terms with Turkish striker Tuncay Sanli. Chairman Steve Gibson has told supporters to expect four exciting new signings this summer, and the Fenerbahce forward will be the first through the door. The free transfer will be completed upon a medical and Tuncay will be viewed as a direct replcement for Mark Viduka, who has joined Newcastle United.
Newly-promoted Sunderland have also moved for a striker, with a bid for Preston North End's David Nugent. He is currently on international duty with England under-21's, but Roy Keane has made an undisclosed offer for the £6 million-rated forward.
Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has insisted his side are not ready to make an offer to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. The Dutchman was released by Charlton Athletic after their relegation to the Championship, and despite being linked with a move to Ninian Park it seems his wait for a new club will continue.
Wigan Athletic have had a £4m bid for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jason Koumas rejected. They are expected to complete the signing of Mario Melchiot from Rennes, though.
Thierry Henry's future remains a talking point, but Arsene Wenger will try to keep him at Arsenal by signing fellow Frenchman David Trezeguet. He is refusing to sign a new contract at Juventus and it is reported that Wenger is plotting a £5m bid. Ajax's Ryan Babel is also a £6m target.
Manchester United forward Alan Smith admits he will look for a future away from Old Trafford if Sir Alex Ferguson does not assure him he remains in the club's plans. Smith found it difficult to get into the side at the end of last season, following a broken leg, and Sunderland will lead the chase for his signature if he decides to leave United. Smith said: "If the manager tells me he wants me, I'm there for him. If he doesn't, it's time to move on."
Newcastle hope to land Reading full-back Nicky Shorey as part of their defensive shake-up.
West Ham United appear to be leading the race to sign Charlton's Darren Bent. It is believed they are closing in on an £18m deal for the England international, and will pay him £80,000-a-week.
Midfielder Hayden Mullins and forward Marlon Harewood are set to move in the opposite direction though, as Alan Pardew expects to land the West Ham pair. Dennis Rommedahl is also planning to leave Charlton in a £500,000 switch to French side Rennes.
West Ham forward Carlos Tevez remains a talking point. His future should be decided next week as Manchester United and Inter Milan prepare to battle for his signature.

Sounds to me like Trez just wants a better contract. Babel at 6ml sounds a bit more realistic.

In a recent article published in Argentina, Carlos Tevez said that West Ham owned his registration and whom he played for next year was completely up to them.
With money sloshing around the club, surely they should keep him and build a team around the little maestro.
It would be madness for them to sell or loan him in a deal that seems to have the hand of his agents/former owners on it. That would play into the hands of Sheffield United and Wigan who continue to claim that they exert an inappropriate influence on the player.
He has to stay.

Tuncay has chosen a right club.He is very ambitious and am sure he will then transfer to Italy.Middlebrough is just a step for Tuncay. He will be very succesfull as his style completely match with British football.

18 million pound for Darren Bent?! Why do teams pay such inflated prices for english players?! yes he is a good player, but if he is worth 18, surely someone like steven gerrard is worth 80-100million?!
