Bolton Wanderers have signed Liverpool midfielder Danny Guthrie on a season long loan deal. Guthrie, 20, made his first team debut last term, and also spent two months on loan at Southampton.
"Danny is a dynamic midfielder who is very comfortable on the ball," said Bolton manager Sammy Lee.
West Bromwich Albion have turned down a transfer request from defender Curtis Davies. Manager Tony Mowbray wants Davies to remain at the club to help their chances of returning to the Premiership.
"I have had a conversation with Curtis and he's sensible enough to realise the price has got to be right for us to even consider letting him go," Mowbray said.
One player who could be leaving the Hawthorns, however, is Diomansy Kamara. Fulham are trying to sign the forward in a deal worth £5.5m, with Heidar Helguson moving away from Craven Cottage.
Meanwhile, Queens Park Rangers have rejected a move from the Cottagers for winger Lee Cook.
Wigan Athletic are closng in on the signing of Preston North End goalkeeper Carlo Nash. They have agreed a fee of £300,000 and the deal should be completed once Nash returns from his honeymoon next week.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is plotting a move for Dutchman Royston Drenthe. The full-back was involved in Wednesday evening's thrilling clash against England under-21's in the European Championships, and will be allowed to leave Feyenoord to help their poor financial state.
Mourinho believes a fee of £4m will land Drenthe, 20, who can also play further forward as a winger. Mourinho has failed in a bid to land Lyon midfielder Florent Malouda, however.
Liverpool are believed to be tracking Villarreal's Diego Forlan, as well as Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres.
Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing Shabani Nonda on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell last season. However, they have been told by Roma he will cost £1.4m.
Preston are expecting a host of bids for David Nugent, now that England have been knocked out of the under-21 European Championships. Nugent is rated at £7m, and is being chased by Sunderland, West Ham United, Middlesbrough and Everton.
Birmingham City are also in the market for a striker, and hope to sign Garry O'Connor from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.
The Scotland international is available for £2.5m and Blues manager Steve Bruce is confident he can tie up a deal to boost his attacking options for next term.
