Lomana LuaLua has joined Olympiacos from Portsmouth for £2.9 million. The forward, who has signed a three-year deal, has scored 15 goals in 72 league matches since he made a permanent transfer to Fratton Park three years ago. LuaLua also played for Colchester United and Newcastle United in his nine years in England.

Harry Redknapp, the Portsmouth manager, has brought in two strikers this summer but is considering signing one more forward.

David Unsworth, the former Wigan Athletic defender, is expected to sign a one-year contract at Burnley today.

Txiki Beguiristáin, the Barcelona sporting director, has said that Eidur Gudjohnsen will probably have to leave the club in order to play regularly. Mikaël Silvestre has said that he turned down a move to Newcastle. The Manchester United defender said that he was offered a three-year deal worth £35,000 a week after tax. “It was a beautiful contract but there is more to life than money,” he said. Silvestre also received approaches from Bordeaux and Aston Villa.
