Everton hope to parade £6 million signing Jamie Beattie at Goodison Park tomorrow before the home clash with Portsmouth.

The 26-year-old was at Everton's Bellefield training ground this morning to complete his medical after agreeing terms on the move from Southampton.

Beattie, who will sign a four-and-a-half-year contract, is believed to have rejected a more lucrative offer from Aston Villa, who also had a £6 million bid accepted by Southampton.

Beattie scored 76 goals in 233 games for Southampton after joining them from Blackburn, who are believed to in line for a £1 million cut of the fee as part of the sell-on clause when they signed the England forward from Ewood Park in July 1998.

Everton also insist they have had no contact from Real Madrid following speculation that the Spanish club are in talks with Thomas Gravesen's agent over a possible move. The Danish midfield player is out of contract in the summer.
