The forward, on a season-long loan deal from Chilean side Audax Italiano, has been sidelined with chickenpox. David Dunn is ruled out of the second-round match as he suffered an Achilles injury in the 1-1 draw against Hull at the weekend.

Fulham v Leicester, 8pm

Andrew Johnson may play in Fulham's Carling Cup second-round game with Leicester at Craven Cottage, but the striker will not be risked unless he has fully recovered from a thigh injury.

Johnson missed the opening league defeat at Hull and Saturday's 1-0 win over Arsenal but Seol Ki-Hyeon has done well in his place and Hodgson has other attacking options in Erik Nevland and Clint Dempsey.

With Fulham's next game not until September 13, Hodgson may also give a debut to Fredrik Stoor. Paul Konchesky remains an injury doubt, while Diomansy Kamara (knee) and goalkeeper Antti Niemi (wrist) are long-term casualties.

Nottm Forest v Sunderland

Roy Keane will be without striker Michael Chopra for Sunderland's Carling Cup second-round trip to Nottingham Forest.

The former Newcastle frontman begins a three-match ban following his sending-off in pre-season, but new signings Djibril Cisse and David Healy will be included in the squad.

Anton Ferdinand will not make the trip even if he signs from West Ham today as he is recovering from a hamstring problem, however Kieran Richardson should be fit despite picking up a rib injury at Tottenham at the weekend. Dwight Yorke, Kenwyne Jones and Martyn Waghorn remain on the injury list.

West Ham v Macclesfield

Alan Curbishley intends to field his strongest possible team for tonight's Carling Cup tie against Macclesfield.

The match has come too soon for Craig Bellamy (hamstring) but the Wales striker could be fit for Saturday's clash with Blackburn, while George McCartney may return after shaking off a virus.

Kieron Dyer (broken leg), Jonathan Spector (hip), Danny Gabbidon (stomach), James Tompkins (leg) and James Collins (knee) are still out.
