Attend an evening with Andre Agassi
Peter Crouch (Tottenham)
A move to White Hart Lane is an excellent fit. He’ll be a fine foil to Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane and should provide a decent number of assists as well as getting into double figures for goals himself.
Last season’s PTG rank: 26
Lorik Cana (Sunderland)
The former Marseilles captain is a defensive midfield player who’s got a good all-round game without having much flair — a bit like Marouane Fellaini, of Everton. He’s tidy, reliable and will provide the occasional goal.
Last season’s PTG rank: N/A
Gareth Barry (Manchester City)
One of the Premier League’s most consistent performers and a move to the City of Manchester Stadium enhances his value. He’ll slot into the team nicely and City have plenty of forwards to get on the end of his passes.
Last season’s PTG rank: 18
Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
Last season was a bit rocky for Cole, but I expect a strong campaign. I think he’ll be bolder going forward, more like he was in his Arsenal days, and the World Cup finals on the horizon will give him extra impetus.
Last season’s PTG rank: 41
Fernando Torres (Liverpool)
He was hampered by injury last season and perhaps tired after Euro 2008 but still scored 14 goals in 20 league starts. He’s such a natural finisher and is primed for a big campaign — he could be the division’s top goalscorer.
Last season’s PTG rank: 44
Who are ya: ten new Premier League arrivals to watch out for
Christian Benítez (Birmingham City)
The highly rated 23-year-old Ecuador striker joined from Santos Laguna in Mexico in a deal worth up to £7.7 million.
Jordi Gómez (Wigan Athletic)
Wigan paid about £1.7 million to Espanyol for the 24-year-old playmaker, who scored 14 times on loan to Swansea City last season.
Luis Jiménez (West Ham United)
The 25-year-old Chile forward signed from Inter Milan on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.
Nenad Milijas (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
The Serbia midfield player, 26, is a dead-ball specialist and was Serbian player of the year last season with Red Star Belgrade.
Gabriel Obertan (Manchester United)
The 20-year-old winger has joined on a four-year contract from Bordeaux and looks one for the future.
Bjorn Helge Riise (Fulham)
Younger brother of John Arne, the 26-year-old Norway midfield player cost £1.7 million from Lillestrom.
Paulo da Silva (Sunderland)
The 29-year-old centre back with more than 50 Paraguay caps joins from Toluca in Mexico.
Hendry Thomas (Wigan Athletic)
The 24-year-old Honduras midfield player arrives from Deportivo Olimpia, the former club of Maynor Figueroa and Wilson Palacios.
Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal)
The sturdy 23-year-old Belgium centre back cost £10 million from Ajax and has Champions League experience.
Yuri Zhirkov (Chelsea)
The West London side gave CSKA Moscow about £18 million for the 25-year-old Russia wing-back.
