The Wigan and Colombia forward had an easy task in rolling his first goal past the prone Brian Jensen in the 3-1 victory away to Burnley, but his second was a perfectly-placed low shot in off the foot of the far post. Rodallega was a cut-price replacement for Emile Heskey – but, unlike the England forward, the Colombian scores goals.

Frank Lampard (Chelsea, CM): 2 goals, three league points, 90 minutes played.

Lampard looked back to his best in the 5-0 rout of Blackburn Rovers, even allowing for the feebleness of the opposition. When the chance came to open his account shortly after half-time, there was never a doubt that he was going to miss, and when the referee pointed to the penalty spot after a foul on Didier Drogba, only one man was going to grab the ball.

Daniel Agger (Liverpool, CB): clean sheet, three league points, 90 minutes played.

Sir Alex Ferguson said that Jamie Carragher is Liverpool’s best defender, but he is owned in every PlayTheGame league – whereas Agger may still be available for you to sign. He will get his share of the defensive action, and if Carragher helps him to win league points and keep clean sheets, who will complain? Significantly, Rafael Benitez also seems to prefer him to Martin Skrtel at the moment, which will keep him playing.

Joe Cole (Chelsea, CM, LM): three league points, 77 minutes played.

What’s that you say? He didn’t contribute any assists or score a goal, or even complete a full 90 minutes? All true. But in the 84 minutes he has played this season, he has made 45 successful passes, and looked a world-beater in a central, attacking midfield role on his first start of the season against Blackburn Rovers. On pure potential he is worth looking for on your out-of-contract list just in case he’s available because a previous owner lost patience.

Boaz Myhill (Hull City, GK): one league point, clean sheet, 90 minutes played.

Myhill made a series of good saves in the goalless draw at home to Portsmouth, and although no Hull City player is going to be a valuable source of league points, Hull can keep things quite tight at the back in home games against some of the lesser teams. And Myhill is always going to have plenty to do, earning his share of defensive points.
