Great goalkeeping saves have always played an important part in the history of The FA Cup.

This season energy company and FA Cup sponsor E.ON has teamed up with The Times to celebrate the role of goalkeepers by offering a once in a lifetime experience.

If you would like to win an incredible opportunity to get even closer to the action and join The Times Chief Sports Photographer, Marc Aspland, pitch side at Wembley for this season’s FA Cup final in May, you’ll need to showcase your photography skills to capture what life is really like for the lonely few between the sticks.

We’re looking for images of goalkeepers across all levels of the game, capturing the highs and lows of these unsung heroes. Entries will be judged by our panel of experts and one winner announced at the end of each round of the competition. The five winners will be invited to an exclusive photography exhibition the night before The FA Cup Final to see their photograph on display. In addition to joining Marc Aspland at the final, the overall winner will receive one night's accommodation, a ticket for a guest and have their picture featured in The Times’s The Game supplement.

Life between the Sticks

1. This competition is open to all UK residents aged 18 or over excluding employees of E.ON, and Times Newspapers Limited (“TNL”) and their associated, affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their families, agents, or anyone connected with this competition, including the third party promotional partners..

2. The competition is open from 7 November 2009 until Sunday 11 April 2010 at 12 midday.

3. To enter, email sportpix@thetimes.co.uk with ‘Life between the Sticks’ in the subject line. Submissions must be in jpeg format.

4. Entrants are requested to showcase their photography skills by capturing images that demonstrate what life is really like for goalkeepers. All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the consent of anyone who is identifiable (excluding professional goalkeepers) in that image or the consent of their parent/guardian if they are under 16 and that they have been advised of the purpose of the submission and that their photograph may be published by E.ON and/or TNL, and that they do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photographs they are submitting are their own work and that they own the copyright for them.
