Tyson, who has just returned to full fitness after a knee ligament injury that kept him out of the Nottingham Forest side for eight months, scored one goal and created another as his side booked a third-round tie at home to Charlton Athletic.
There was no sign of battle fatigue from the non-League side in the early stages of this replay. With both defences looking vulnerable, Salisbury matched the Coca-Cola League One leaders sortie for sortie.
A diagonal ball into Forest’s six-yard box from Matthew Holmes just evaded Matthew Tubbs, while Daniel Clay’s close-range cross was diverted for a corner by Danny Cullip, the Forest defender, via the framework of his goal.
Forest, relying on the pace of Kris Commons and Tyson as a prime means of unsettling Salisbury’s defence by attacking down their right flank, failed to trouble Ryan Clarke until the dying minutes of the first half, when the goalkeeper was called on to make saves in quick succession from Junior Agogo and Tyson.
Clarke’s resistance ended seven minutes after the break when Agogo split the Salisbury defence with a through-ball and Tyson slid the ball home to record his sixth goal in as many starts.
There was a strong suspicion of offside when Tyson turned provider to set up Nicky Southall, on as a substitute, to end Salisbury’s lingering hopes of taking the tie into extra time.
