Take a trip to New York and see the city from the air
David Beckham will play for Real Madrid at Zaragoza on Saturday despite suffering a left ankle injury in England's qualifier with Estonia on Wednesday. Beckham was unable to take a full part in training today, but was named in a 20-man travelling party. He left the club's Valdebebas training ground wearing an ankle support.
"I'm going to travel to Zaragoza and I'm going to play," Beckham told sports daily Marca.
Beckham could win his first major trophy with Madrid if the team beats Zaragoza — and FC Barcelona and Sevilla lose — this weekend. Madrid lead two-time defending champion Barcelona on head-to-head results. Both have 72 points, two more than Sevilla, with two games to go.
"I hope he gets better," Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy said. "David wants to play the last two matches that he has left with Real Madrid, and I know he will, with that mind-set."
"Beckham has been very important for us down the home stretch and he wants to leave here with a title. It would be a dream come true for all of us."
Meanwhile, Beckham's advisers insist the midfielder will allow no obstacle to stand in his way of playing for England when he moves to Los Angeles Galaxy.
The 32-year-old looks to have secured his England squad place for the rest of the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign but that will mean clashes with some Galaxy fixtures.
"If called up, David will without question want to play for England, whether that's in a friendly or a competitive game," a Beckham spokesman said. "We will sit down with the Galaxy to work out that schedule when the matter arises.
"David is extremely proud to play for his country and he will do anything to put on an England shirt. As far as he is concerned he can still play for his country at a high level for years to come."
Beckham is virtually guaranteed selection for the friendly against Germany on August 22 after his performances in the last two England games.
England call-ups could mean him missing five games for the Galaxy but general manager Alexi Lalas has said the club will not stand in Beckham's way.
"If David continues to be called up for England, we'll drive him to the airport," Lalas said.
Beckham is due to arrive in Los Angeles in mid-July but is not expected to play in an MLS all-stars match against Celtic on July 19. His debut is likely to be in Galaxy's game against Chelsea on July 21.
