Uefa has urged Manchester United and Chelsea supporters not to travel to the Champions League final in Moscow, unless they have a ticket for the match.
Russia has finally agreed a deal with Uefa to free English football supporters from the need to obtain visas to travel to Moscow. In an unprecedented move, President Putin authorised a scheme to allow fans to use their match ticket as a visa to enter Russia for 72 hours.
Uefa has warned supporters that anyone travelling to Russia without a match ticket they could be in for a tough time.
William Gaillard, Uefa's director of communications, said: "Don't go there. Spare yourself the aggravation of being rejected at the stadium. I would tell the fans 'be reasonable, stay put' because otherwise you are going to have to pay for a full visa.
"It will be complicated to get it in most cases as you will have no proof of hotel reservations and, of course, no ticket. It's going to be expensive. The Russian authorities are also going to be very strict about people trying to get into the stadium with counterfeit tickets or tickets that don't really belong to them."
United and Chelsea have been allocated 21,000 tickets each for the match at the Luzhniki Stadium, where capacity has been limited to 69,500. Although a Fans' Park will be available in Moscow, Gaillard added: "Is it worth spending all that money just to go to a Fans' Park when I'm sure there will be plenty of public places in the UK showing the game?"
