Manchester City’s ambitious attempts to sign Ronaldinho, the Barcelona and Brazil playmaker, appear to have been ended after the player's agent said he was "80-90 per cent" certain to join AC Milan.

Roberto De Assis, Ronaldinho's agent and brother, says that a deal is in place with the Italian club and that both parties are working towards finalising a deal.

"It's true that he'll probably go to Milan," De Assis said. "Everything's ready for the transfer. He is there 80-90 per cent and we are working towards that. He is working hard to get back to his best and the important thing is that now he is fine and that he is working for his future."

De Assis also laughed off suggestions the two-time Fifa World Player of the Year would join David Beckham at Los Angeles Galaxy. "It's not possible because he is only 28 and he wants to play at least five or six years more at the top level in world football."
