Steven Pienaar, the Everton midfielder, could make his first appearance of the season against Standard Liege, after recovering from a broken toe. Victor Anichebe has also travelled, having been carried off in the first leg with a knee problem.
Tim Cahill, who starts a three-match domestic ban on Sunday, will also play, while new signing Marouane Fellaini is cup-tied and will not face his former club.
"Sure, it's not going to be that easy, but we are not asking a lot of ourselves. That's the long and short of it.," Tim Howard, the Everton goalkeeper, said.
"We have to remember we were all over them in the second half at Goodison - that gives us real hope."

City v Omonia Nicosia
(Agg 2 - 1)
Vincent Kompany, the Manchester City midfielder, is expected to shake off a slight knee problem and face Omonia.
Kompany suffered the knock in the defeat by Wigan Athletic on Sunday but has made a good recovery in the run-up to the first-round second leg match. City hold a 2-1 lead but will be without Martin Petrov (hamstring) and Michael Johnson (groin), who are sidelined through injury.
"If we get into the group stages that is the first objective achieved, " Mark Hughes, the City manager, said. "You are then guaranteed a number of games that takes you into the new year and that is important.
"But first of all we need to overcome a spirited Omonia side, who caused a couple of problems in the first leg. We need to put this tie to bed quite quickly. We need to start strong and dictate the tempo."
Man City (from): Hart, Zabaleta, Richards, Dunne, Ben Haim, Garrido, Ball, Elano, Kompany, Ireland, Hamann, Fernandes, Wright-Phillips, Robinho, Jo, Schmeichel, Evans, Sturridge, Glauber, Etuhu.
