GILBERTO SILVA believes that his team-mates must find a way of shackling Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o if they are to have a chance of winning this evening, but he will not be asked to do a marking job on either player.

The Arsenal midfield player will be facing his talented Brazil team-mate for the first time and is aware of the threat he poses.

“I will know tomorrow as I’ve never played against him before,” Gilberto said last night. “We play in the national team, but that’s different.

“These are two very classy and important players and if we want to win we have to stop Ronaldinho and Eto’o from playing, but Arsène [Wenger] has never asked me to mark them man to man, or anyone else. We just need to do our jobs well, as we normally do.

“To stop Ronaldinho we need to stop everyone else as well. If we do our jobs, we will be able to win the game but it’s going to be very difficult. These two are very important. They have other great players as well who can go forward and we cannot ignore them. But we must pay special attention to what these guys are doing.”

As a World Cup winner, Gilberto exercises considerable influence at Arsenal, but his main piece of advice for the club’s young players was to enjoy the experience.

“I don’t have to give them any advice as they watch Spanish football on television every week and know a bit about Barcelona,” he said.

“The one thing I will say to the young players is to enjoy the game. I don’t have to say it’s an important game as they know that and are ambitious to win. Before the final there’s a lot of pressure, so if you say something extra it’s not the best way to help.”
