Barnsley have accused the FA of showing bias towards big clubs after they failed to punish Chris Morgan for his challenge on Iain Hume, who was released from hospital today.
The FA confirmed yesterday they would not take disciplinary action against the Sheffield United captain despite his challenge leaving the Barnsley striker with massive head injuries and fighting for his life
The Canada international, 25, suffered the horrific injury after being caught by Morgan's elbow in a Coca-Cola Championship match at Oakwell on November 8. Hume was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation and spent several days in a high dependency unit at the Salford Royal Hope Hospital, before being allowed home eight days ago.
Hume, 25, spent two further nights in hospital after being readmitted on Monday with an infection and is now continuing his recovery at home.
Barnsley are considering legal action and claimed the FA would have acted if a more illustrious player had been the victim.
"I am angry and disappointed," Simon Davey, the Barnsley manager said. "I think that they've let down Iain Hume badly and let down Barnsley Football Club. I think that had it been Cristiano Ronaldo, Alex Ferguson and Manchester United, the decision they gave would have been different."
Patrick Cryne, the Barnsley owner, added: "The two people who should have been punished have got away with it. Chris Morgan is still playing football and Andy D'Urso is still refereeing.
"It has not ended for Iain Hume, he has suffered a serious injury which is career-threatening and was life-threatening. He and his advisers need to decide their next action. Barnsley Football Club has supported Iain throughout this and will continue to do so."

I support Portsmouth and I was horrified a what happened to Pedro Mendes. Iain Hume is no different.....Chris Morgan should have been banned by the FA AND his club.....When the Thatcher Incident happened Stuart Pierce condemned it completly...Shef utd should ban Morgan and Barnsley should sue him.
Mike, York, UK
Morgan is a disgusting player - 11 red cards during his career. It was a horrible, malicious, deliberate elbow.
More disturbing is how referee Andy D'Urso and the FA react. They don't consider this serious enough to take further action. Their lack of action is contemptible. No 'respect' FA.
David, Wolverhampton, England
Stating the bleeding obvious there eh? Of course it would have been dealt with differently if Man Utd had been the victim of this incident. Do they really expect it not to be the case? Reality calling: power and money will always triumph over righteous indignation.
Chris, Nottingham,
as a grimsby fan you cant accuse me of being biased in favour of barnsley or sheff utd - (we hate them both! lol) but i dont see much difference between what morgan and what ben thatcher did to pedro mendes, and im sure the fa took action against thatcher. barnsley have a point.
