Mick McCarthy, the Wolverhampton Wanderers manager, has been named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for November after leading his team to five victories and one draw in their six matches last month.

McCarthy admitted the run had been down to the effort of his players. "We've been behind in games this season and got something out of them," he said. "Birmingham were better for 55-60 minutes, but we had 30 minutes and were taking it to them and could have won."

Roberto Di Matteo, the MK Dons manager, was awarded the League One accolade after his team picked up maximum points in November - recording consecutive wins against Tranmere Rovers, Hartlepool United, Walsall and Hereford United.

Peter Taylor, the Wycombe Wanderers manager, landed the League Two award. The former England Under-21 coach took over from Paul Lambert in the summer and has led his side to the top of the table following an unbeaten 18-game run.

However, Taylor insisted his players should take the plaudits. "I'm delighted," he said. "The players have worked exceptionally hard over the past few months. I know it sounds lovely me being named manager of the month but the players' togetherness is the reason we have won it.

"We've had a little bit of luck along the way but we are a very good side."
