1986-1995, 259app, 62g
Manager John Lyall converted the fleet-footed winger into a striker and it paid huge dividends as the youth product led the club's scoring charts for three consecutive seasons after making his breakthrough in the 1990-91 campaign. Kiwomya, who thrived on balls over the defence, scored 17 goals the following season in a fruitful partnership with Jason Dozzell which saw Town promoted to the top flight in 1992.
46 Tony Mowbray
1995-2000, 153app, 8g
George Burley needed a new leader for his team in 1995 after relegation from the Premier League and identified the ideal candidate at Celtic. Ipswich paid £500,000 for the craggy centre half, Mowbray struggled with injury at the start of his Ipswich career playing only 50 games in his first three seasons. His return to full fitness enhanced the club's promotion prospects and his battling qualities and organisational skills helped the club to two third-place finishes in the Championship.
Mowbray was a rock in 1999-2000 play-offs, setting up a goal for Jim Magilton in the semi-final, second leg against Bolton Wanderers and scored a 28th-minute equaliser in the final against Barnsley to settle his side's nerves after conceding an early goal. Called it a day after the Wembley victory to deservedly end his playing career on a high.
45 Doug Rees
1949-59, 387app, 1g
Welsh centre half left his job as a coal miner to join Ipswich at the age of 24 and became a regular under manager Scott Duncan in 1951. He won Third Division (South) championship medals in 1953-54 and 1956-57, but along with John Elsworthy narrowly missed out on travelling to Sweden with the 1958 Wales World Cup squad.
44 Bryan Hamilton
1971-75, 199app, 56g
Part of the Bobby Robson side that emerged as a real force in the early to mid-70s, the Northern Ireland midfield player offered a valuable source of goals and top scored for Town when they finished fourth and third in the First Division in 1974 and 1975 respectively. Hamilton played a prominent role in Town’s run to the FA Cup semi-finals in 1975, inspiring a comeback win with two goals against Aston Villa in the fifth round, a goal in the third replay of the quarter-final against Leeds United and had a goal ruled offside, somewhat controversially by referee Clive Thomas, in the semi-final replay defeat to West Ham United.
