Alexander Hleb has completed his move from Arsenal to Barcelona after signing a four-year contract with the Catalan giants.

The Belarus international landed in Barcelona on Wednesday morning and after spending the day undertaking various medical tests sealed his switch this evening.

The 27-year-old midfielder will cost Barcelona an initial £12million, rising to £13.5m depending on the club's success, whilst the buy-out clause in Hleb's contract has been set at £71 million.

"I love this team," Hleb said. "I will give my best and I want to win everything with Barca."

Hleb, who had also been linked with a move to Inter Milan, becomes the fifth signing of the close season for the Nou Camp club, following the arrivals of Seydou Keita and Dani Alves from Seville, as well as Gerard Pique, the Manchester United defender, and Martin Caceres from Villarreal.

Hleb spent the last three seasons at Arsenal after joining the Barclays Premier League side from German club Stuttgart for £11.2m. Prior to that he played for BATE Borisov in Belarus.

Hleb's departure from the Emirates Stadium seemed likely all summer after the player said he was "mentally tired" by living in London and playing Premier League football.
