Neil Warnock, the Sheffield United manager, and Dave Whelan, the Wigan Athletic chairman, complained that justice had not been done after West Ham United escaped relegation while Sheffield United went down.
Carlos Tevez, the Argentina striker who is at the centre of the West Ham transfer controversy, scored the only goal of the game at Old Trafford against Manchester United as Sheffield United were losing 2-1 to Wigan.
"It is only human to look at the dossier and not understand why they (West Ham) haven't had any point deducted and that is why you do get disappointed," Warnock fumed as his side's relegation from the Premiership was confirmed.
"But by Tuesday it will all be in the bin and there won't be a big hoo-haa. Sheffield United - so what. West Ham are a big club with big reputations and they've obviously got good solicitors."
Is Warnock right? Should West Ham be taking Sheffield United's place in the Championship? Is it unfair that Tevez was allowed to play at all?
Or is this just a case of sour grapes? Were Sheffield United not good enough throughout the season and therefore deserve to go down? Should the so-called "Gang of Four" accept the decision that was taken only to fine West Ham and concentrate on matters at their own clubs?
